Is anyone NOT registering?

Is anyone NOT registering?

I really don't feel like it but FH suggested we should. So we did last month at BBB but only added a few items. My heart just isn't into it. FH and I don't live together but he has an apartment with plenty to get by. We don't have a house so we don't have any color schemes or themes picked out. I just keep thinking 'oh this is nice but we don't really need it'. Or if we get everything in neutral colors, eventually I'd probably want to change it. I know nothing about my shower (but know I'll be having one) but now feel like I have to get this registering done and don't feel like it. I also feel that maybe I should register someplace else because BBB can be pricey and I don't want these people thinking I am greedy.

And to make this worse, I just saw that someone bought our stainless steel pots and pans set so I took off the non-stick set and now FH is saying we need to keep it on the list. I don't see why we need 2 sets of pots and pans. We are now having the stainless steel vs. non-stick argument.

Honestly you should. I went to a wedding in sept and they didnt register and it was kind of annoying. Not everyone has the cash to give ( we gave cash for the wedding) and then we had to figure out what she wanted. Especially for the shower i didnt like being invited and not know what to bring.

Register for upgrades, new sheets.

If you are having a shower, I would def. try to register.

Me & FH live together...and have pretty much EVERYTHING....but we registered for some upgrades like a down comforter, knives, towels and stuff we wouldn't buy ourselves like an espresso maker, fondue pot, waffle maker, nice wine glasses, wok....although we don't NEED these things...I'm afraid that if I don't register my shower is going to be filled with tacky vases and what not....

Are you interested in fine china at all???

I think you should register. Don;t think just because FH has everything you need to get my means you shouldn't register. I have had my own place since 1996 so I have plenty of stuff. I registered for new things so we can start our life off with kitchen stuff that will last. I didn't register for home things because we don't have a house.

Go to target or BBB and register for everyday dishes and kitchen stuff and then maybe some towels and sheets in neutral colors. THat way it will go with anything when you do have a house.

We registered at honeymoonwishes.com and Macys. Maybe you should consider honeymoonwishes.com. People can buy you a gift for your honeymoon instead of giving you stuff for the house.

I would just register for the basics. Get new towels, sheets, kitchen gadgets, etc. If you dont and you are having a shower, people are just going to get you what they 'think' you need and you are going to be stuck with stuff you dont want.

Also like a previous post suggested, why not do a honeymoon registry?

we didn't register cause we already live together. we have all his old stuff cause i moved into his place which we've slowly been upgrading. i feel the same way you do, we don't have a house yet and i'm not sure what my colors will be when we do move so i just didnt bother registering and he doesnt care one way or another. plus i really didnt want a bridal shower cause weddings cost enough as it is and i didnt want the extra expense on me, my parents or my MOH. besides 96% of my guest won't be looking at the registry anyway when it comes to wedding gifts so for us it was pointless.

Honestly... I wasn't registered for my engagement party and people were asking about that left and right. They didnt' seem to like that I wasn't registered yet.

I have to register for the shower and wedding though. FH and I live together already and believe me we have EVERYTHING we need already! TOO MUCH STUFF As it is! But I'm going to register anyway just to give people options. Whatever you change your mind about you can always return.

I say register for both pot sets and you can return the ones you like least. Just make sure you register at a place with a nice return policy. I hear BBB has that.

I wouldn't stress this too much... just remember you CAN ALWAYS RETURN ITEMS FOR MONEY!

IMHO you really should... esp for major appliances if nothing else... if you dont want to register for bed and bath stuff thats fine, but trust me register for kitchen stuff... there is so much you need and there is no color scheme for that.. most stuff comes in black and you dont want to eventually move into a house and buy all that stuff, its so expensive! better to have it now, you will use it after you are married

Hands down, you should register. Otherwise, you're going to get a lot of ugly things that you don't want.

Me. I am not. Maybe just for a few amall things like frames an vases/ We are moving abroad and it is not that traditional for us, plus I have no idea what I will need. I rather get cash/gold, which is traditional and have a nice fund for when we need it.
I don't think people will buy random stuff for us....my parents will communicate about this to people and I feek like just giving cash is so much easier in a way.

FH & I have a place together and registered for things we already have... we bought crappy stuff when we first moved in so that we could upgrade at the shower

you should def register... and dont worry about the price... everyone can get their hands on BBB coupons so i dont think its minded as much

I registered but only for the shower because we didnt want a whole bunch of things that we wouldn't use... i think most people know to bring cash for a wedding

FH and I both own homes and have for about 5 years. We thought about not registering because we already have double of everything. BUT we decided to do it because we can now upgrade and get new things that we both like.
Believe me - I thought it would be fun to do but got shopped out after 2 hours last Sunday.

if you leave people free to use their imagination for your wedding gift you might get some interesting items like:

OR

GL I say just register somewhere with a good return policy so in the event you get things you cant use or dont need, just thank the guest and return it! ( BBB gives cash back)

Re: Is anyone NOT registering?

Thank you everyone for your advice! I appreciate your suggestions. I guess I was just in a funk last night because BBB is huge and it was overwhelming when we registered last month. Not to mention I was coming down with a bad cold. FH loved the scanner though (what is it with those guys? ) Your ideas did help. We do need some essentials such as bedding / comforter, kitchen and bath towels, and quite a few appliances.

Thanks again
