Is anyone NOT spending Thanksgiving with family?

FH and I would like to plan abit of a mini getaway for ourselves this Turkey day because we didn't have our honeymoon...

We feel abit guilty about having to turn both our families down.

Is anyone else not spending time with either family on turkey day?

When FH and I get married, we plan on spending our first Thanksgiving alone. We want to eat naked j/k.
We wanted to spend our first holiday with just the two of us.

I personally am spending time with my family, but I don't think it's a huge deal to not spend time with your families. I think planning a little getaway as a mini honeymoon is a great idea.

Do what makes you and your DH happy.

We invited both my parents and DH's parent's to celebrate with us, so we didn't have to choose which one to celebrate with as our first Thanksgiving married.

We're spending both THanksgiving and Christmas with my family. We're going to his parents' house the weekend after Thanksgiving and for New Year's. Actually, his parents might come have Christmas with my family, too...

But one thing I was absolutely adamant about was that we would wake up in OUR home - alone - on Christmas morning. I did not want to wake up in someone else's house on Christmas morning or wake up to house guests.

You should feel guilty...I think once you are married you should want to start you own holiday traditions

I am very BLESSED this year for having Thanksgiving off, I have worked it for the past years. My FH also has off.
My FIL just moved to Florida, so we won't be spending Turkey day with them.
Luckily I will be spending some time with Nanny and my parents, and brothers, and My Future brother and sister in law and her family.
We will going to my family first and then to Michael's and Tammy's.

We might not. We may be moving into our new house that day, so we may either go out to eat or have dinner at my friend's mother's house.

Ditto for Christmas. We're supposed to go the FH's family in FL, but we may do Christmas breakfast with my family and dinner on our own.

unfortunately we're gonna be by ourselves. fh has to work on thanksgiving and our closest family is 3 hrs away (his). mine is in ny (we're in tx). we may visit his family before the holiday, but for the holiday itself we'll be on our own.
