Is anyone out there getting there own steamer?

I am getting ready at a hotel and then travelling in a shuttle bus to my reception site where my ceremoy will be also. Do you think my gown will get wrinkled? Also, between the time you pick up your dress and actually wear it that day, does it need to be steamed?

It wasn't necessary for me...I thought it was going to be and everything was fine.

Same here. My wedding was a sunday, I picked my dress up on Wednesday. The bridal salon owner told me to just take it out of the bag after I hang it and lay out the train. Did the same thing when we got to the hotel the night before the wedding.

The reception hall had a steamer, but everything was okay, I didn't need to use it.

Mine definitely needed to be steamed!! My Maitre'D steamed it for me--I would have never thought to bring one!! I would check--your hall may have one.

make sure that if you do get one it's a 'real' garment steamer like this one

I have one of those hand held steamers which did nothing to take out the wrinkles in my sisters wrap (it was satin). but thankfully we tried to steam it the day before the wedding so she had time and took it to a dry cleaner. they charged her $2 to get out the wrinkles.

What fabric is your dress?
Mine was chiffon. I was paranoid of wrinkles and was soooper careful taking my dress home, hanging it, etc. Not a wrinkle, looked great.

Since then, it has been worn through the wedding, hung on a hotel room hanger overnight, brought to my parent's from the hotel, carried through JFK airport in a garment bag, put in an overhead bin for a 6 hour flight, carried through SeaTac aiport, put in the back of a Honda Pilot with 4 people's luggage, and has been hanging on the back of my closet door since January 22nd. (I WAS careful with it through all this, though) Other than some dirt along the bottom, I could get married in it again tomorrow. No wrinkles!
