Changing their last name?!? I'm having such a hard time deciding whether or not to keep my name, take his name, or just have both, anyone have any ideas?!? :)

i'm chaning it to his cause i want to have the same last name as our kids. i would use both but my last name is 12 letters long so to add his on top of it would be a nightmare.

i dont know either....... about 5-6 years ago FH told me he wouldn't like me to take his last name ever since then i decided that when we got married i would not take his last name no matter what!
Of course now that we are definitely getting married he wants me to change it to his..... but i really don't want to because of what he said years ago......

If i do change it is for our future kids & us to all have the same last name.... no other reason!

At first i will just hyphenate but im definitely going o change it fully to FH's last name. Ilove hislast nameits just as italian as mine!

I feel the same way, I'm the LAST one with my last name, and it's so hard to say okay that's it, something different, I may hyphenate it, but FH is supportive of whatever I end up doing!!!!! Thanks for so many replies!!! !:)

I am changing mine! I always wanted to become Mrs...... I think its too much for a kid to have both names. Plus it doesnt mean I will lose who I am just because I change my name.

So am I...my dad never had boys...so I think I'm going to hyphenate. I asked FH if he would mind & for a quick second he looked kind of sad and then he said sure no problem. So I'm going to talk to him about it again I want to make sure that he is 100% comfortable with it b4 I do. But with my 1st name & two last names there would only be 6 syllables...so not a mouth full
