Is anyone using trees (any size) during reception?
I know it may seem a little crazy, but the ceiling in the room is very high and I didn't want the centerpieces (which we want to keep low) to make everything feel short. I saw some pictures of trees in large halls and tent weddings and I loved the look with them all lit up. I have no idea what this would entail--would a florist provide something like this or would I have to find a nursery to rent them from and who would deliver them? Anyone have any experience with this?

We had topiaries....which were about 3.5 feet tall. How tall did you want to go? Remember the taller you go, the larger the base will have to be.

I'm thinking maybe 8ft. We have plenty of room and I'm thinking only 2-4 trees depending on what size and kind of tree. My FH think I'm nuts, so I don't see this happening anyway, but thanks!

I know it is possible to rent trees from places but I don't have any names for you. I would start with your florist and then look online for a prop or tree rental place. You might try bizbash.com and go to resources and keep clicking until you find a place. I think it is sort of expensive but don't know how much. I think it could be a great idea b/c the few trees would provide a high 'focal point.' I see where you are going with this... ALso, you might want to show your FI pictures of the Wintergarden at the World Financial Center which has huge palm trees - there should be pics on bizbash as well.

I felt the dining room was a little bland, so originally our florist was going to bring in a few ficus trees. We changed our minds, I don't remember how much they cost...... If you look around, I'm sure you could find a fair price for them.
