My catering hall requires that all my vendors submit a certificate proving that have at least 1 million dollars in insurance. Is anyone else's hall requiring that???

Yes, it's pretty much standard and most vendors will have no problem complying.

Yes. If you vendor doesn't have insurance, they can purchase what they call a 'main event' policy. It will be for the day of your wedding. I think that it runs for about $300-500. Not sure though.

ETS: I know this because I work for an insurance agency.

Yes, this is a standard practice. My hall gave us a list of vendors not welcomed there.

Oh, yes! But, when all's said and done, that insurance actually protects US as well. If my band leader drops a speaker on someone's head, the band's insurance has to cover that...

this is a standard procedure everywhere...

Vendors know they have to ahve this, and are compliant...its not undheard of to request a cert of insurance....I work in insurance too, and I issue tons of these a week!

Are you serious? Can you do me a favor and PM me the contents of the list? They didn't mention anything about outlawed vendors to me when I booked.

The more I hear, the more I get annoyed with Villa Lombardi.

The companys on the not welcomed list are those who refuse to pay a commission back to the hall or as some like to call it a referral FEE It is a huge game book who makes you happy and is good for you the girls on this site are a better reference than the halls because they are not getting pay backs they are just being honest

I am getting married at Villa's
I just met with them and all they say was for my vendors to fax them their insurance info.
And it had to be for $1,000,000

They do not have a 'not welcomed' vendor list
