Re: Is anyone's MOM as in Mother....
If your so close to your mom, then it should be easy for you to have a heart to heart with her and tell her to chill, that you have everything under control. And that she will be the first person you run to when you need help.

Re: Is anyone's MOM as in Mother....
divabride I beg you pardon, what do you mean if i am so close???
1. I have a lot of respect for my Mom so that goes along way when speaking with her (I would never tell my Mother off or speak to her in an ill-mannered way as most people do)
2. Weddings are stressful
3. I am her only girl and 1st born, she wants the best for me, most parents particularly Mom's are overbearing
thank you very much

She's probably SUPER excited about everything and since you kept her out of the loop she's probably curious and anxious (in a good way) about everything you have done.
Would showing her all the things you have planned help?

I also have a very close relationship with my mother and I can tell you she got on my very last nerve during planning. I am her only girl and she wanted the best for me, but at times that equated to her being overbearing. So I understand. Hang in there.

I know how you feel. I guess you just have to deal with it, you are so close to the wedding date that everything must be pulling on that last nerve of yours. Good luck and I just have to say that I think it is so cool that your mom is the officiant. What a great memory that will be ...if the two of you make it to the wedding

I don't think DivaBride meant anything harmful, she just meant maybe you could have a heart to heart with your mom and let her know that you understand she is as excited and stressed out as you, but maybe she could take it down a little so as not to make you even more stressed. I don't think you need to get into a confrontation with your mom, just let her know how you feel. Maybe you guys could go get a massage together to relax.

wow, what was that for?
sometimes when people are close and have a great relationship it's hard say and do certain things because you don't want to offend/hurt the other person. but at the same time, i am close with my mother and can tell her to go fly a kite and she will understand...
i didn't read divabride's post as snippy, maybe i am missing something?

DId I read something wrong too? Seems like you asked for advice but weren't happy with some nice advice from what I read...are you saying you want your mom out of the loop and not be too overwhleming, which in that case you should speak to her about it or deal with it if you can't or do you want her to be more involved? I'm confused?
ETA: I read your post again because I was still confused...you said your mom's trying to take over, our advice of course is going to be to talk to her, which should be easier in your situatio as your saying how your mom and you are so close and friendly?
