Re: is everyone doing a receiving line?
My sister just got married Saturday and didn't do it because of time inbetween, people were looking for my parents to say hi to and I was holding teh basket of petals to throw. I got stuck kissing and saying hi to everyone at the door. I think out of respect you should do it to thank the people for coming to the church, especially those who are not coming to the wedding

Re: is everyone doing a receiving line?
I planned on it. However, after we were married in the Temple just the two of us slipped into the bridal suite for about five minutes when we were called out our guests were everywhere in the temple. There was no way to even organize it at that point. Thanks for making me feel better that people aren't doing them anymore. Just remember this is your wedding. Bottom line do what you want.

This is a tough one for me... I need to gun it to LI to take picures before the sun goes down so a receiving line may not work for me, but I feel bad not saying thank you for coming to the guests... I have no clue

Re: is everyone doing a receiving line?
We didn't do it...we spent the CH saying hi to everyone and a good part of the reception...this way we enjoyed the 'party' AND we were able to have real conversations with people not just 'hi, thanks' and thinking: ok..move along...NEXT...
no one missed it and it allowed us some down time together after the ceremony.

We are doing one...but we have the time...if we didnt have time it wouldbe the first thing to go...although it is kinda nice in the sense that you know for sure you got to great everyone at least once.

Not me. The ceremony and reception are at the same location. The cocktail hour begins right after the ceremony in the same location, so no time for receiving line.

I think we are only going to do a recieving line w/ us, but no parents and definitely no bridal party members. We are on a tight timeline.

Re: is everyone doing a receiving line?
I Did it and it was wonderful seeing everyone at the church.
It took about 20 minutes - we kissed everyone, said hi, and said see you at the reception. Our church was packed so it was fun to see who showed up.

We are not doing it. But I have a question...we still want rose petals thrown at us as we leave. How do we coordinate this if we are not doing a receiving line?

Re: is everyone doing a receiving line?
We did for our wedding in January and so did one of my friend who got married this past July. However I had two other friends who skipped it. I really think that it is up to the twoof you and what you want to do.

Re: is everyone doing a receiving line?
We are having one because all of our cousins that are younger (at least 50 of them) that are not invited to the reception because it is an adult only reception but will be at the Church and I want to say hi to them, and also our neighbors that are not invited to the reception but are coming to the Church (both his and mine, and his neighbors will be driving 20 minutes to see us get married) I definitely want to thank them for coming. We fortunately have the time between the Church and reception so we can do it.
I was just at a wedding this past month where they did not have enough time between the Church and reception to have a receiving line, and that worked out well for them. No one complained and because they did not have the receiving line, they got to take all their pictures together with more than enough time to still make their CH.

Re: is everyone doing a receiving line?
i originally wasn't going to because i didn't have a lot of time in between the church and CH. but i'm so glad i did because so many people came who weren't at the RH and it was nice to say hello to them. and i got to say hello to my LIW girls!
