Is EVERYONE involved in the real estate process a moron?

We were scheduled to close on Monday, but the seller's attorney did not get the payoff amount on the house! He just asked for it today!

And now the bank is charging us a fee for rescheduling the closing, and I know the seller is not going to pay for it, and that is going to be a whole battle.

since the delay is caused by the seller's attorney they should take responsibility.

hope things can move forward quickly and you could put this long drawn out nightmare behind you.

The seller's attorney should avise the seller to pay for that fee. Expect to see a check at closing for this amount if you complain enough.

The seller has already refused to pay. We will try to take it out of the seller's attorney's closing costs.

if that is the case, then i would REFUSE to pay any oil left in the tank. tell them that their oil is not good enough for you and you are not paying for it.

Yes.

It really amazes me - this is what they all do for a living and it always seems to get screwed up. If I messed up that much at work I would be out of business.

The only thing more painful than buying real estate is giving birth - and actually I am not even sure of that...I'll let you know in sept. what was worse ;)
