I don't like fondent (sp?) or buttercream. I want real whipped cream.
My DOC gave me 2 great options.
1. Have them freeze it, so as it's on display it will be thawed in time for the cutting.
2. Just roll it out when it is ready to be cut
What do you think.
I'm leaning toward #2 just wondering if anyone else is not leaving the cake out.
TIA

Re: Is everyone keeping their cake on display
I really liked having my cake out on display just b/c it was sooo perty but honestly I don't think many people noticed sicne there was so much going on so i think it would be fine if they just rolled it out before cutting time.

Re: Is everyone keeping their cake on display
my cake my gf is actually making a display cake, so it will be made of styrofoam except for the bottom layer, which we will be able to cut into. so our cake will be out all reception
The RH cake will be in the kitchen and will be distributed to the guests.

Re: Is everyone keeping their cake on display
i think i'm doing cupcakes instead of a cake, and i want to display them in the shape of our new last name so i'd like to have it out the whole time.
but i'm worried about kiddies sticking their fingers in, or guests thinking the cupcakes are favors and picking them up at the beginning of the reception.
does anybody else worry about that/ anybody seen that happen?

I'm going to have it brought out after the meal for a bit before cake cutting. I also have a surprise groom's cake

Re: Is everyone keeping their cake on display
Every wedding I've been to the cake has been on display the whole reception buttercream, whipped cream or fondant. I just assume that the cake is always on display.

Re: Is everyone keeping their cake on display
I want my cake on display. So I am doing butter cream. Even frozen and thawing out still might be a problem with whipped cream sliding and thawing unevenly I would keep it refridgerated to be on the safe side and roll it out later

Re: Is everyone keeping their cake on display
we will have ours on display.
I'm not sure yet if I want the surprise Groom's Cake to already be out with our wedding cake or have them roll it out after we cut our cake.
