I just met with the deacon at St. Raymonds in East Rockaway and I know that pre-cana is required. We weren't sure though if Foccus was a requirement or was optional. My fiance thought it was optional, but I wasn't sure. Does anyone know? Specifically, does anyone know if it's optional at St. Raymonds? Do all Catholic churches do it? I know what it's about, but I was just wondering about that. Thanks!!

Yes and i think they prefer it to be finished before PreCana
ETA: I didn't mean yes its optional, I meant Yes its a requirement My mine isn't with it today!

in queens (diocese of bklyn) it doesnt seem to be a requirement bc i was told to do pre-cana and nothing else so it must be a li thing?

I believe it is now a requirement. the test wasn't bad at all, a few questions that make you chuckle.

my church is in Manhattan and I was told only to do the Pre-Cana.

They automatically give you that survey during one of your pre-cana days. It's required. We only had 2 days of precana, and we did FOCCUS the first day, and got our results the second day. Was a total breeze

I am a St. Raymonds bride and sorry to tell you, it is NOT optional. Also, it was very cool. FH and I have been together for 5 years and it ignited new conversations. The 'test ' took 45 min and our review of our answers took 30 minutes. It was a really cool experience and the couple facilitating it was very down to earth.

I think it depends on your church or maybe even the diocese. We are getting married in Seaford and our church does not require it.
