Re: IS IT.......
When my date was 7/30 I wasn't sure I was going to.. but I changed it to 5/28, which is a holiday weekend, so I wanted to give people advance notice.

I think its just an option unless your getting married right around a holiday then I would say its a must so that people do make other plans

If you have a lot of OOT guests then I think it is a good opportunity to let them know about hotels options.

I didn't even think about that!! Should I include hotel info with the STD's?

I'm wondering this too. My wedding is on a Sunday and ends at 12:00am. I wasn't going to send STD's but should I?

When we went to the Wingate last weekend, they couldn't show us any regular rooms because they were all booked I think the sooner guests book their rooms the better.
FH made a wedding website (or is STILL making it)-- on it we are including hotel info. We are putting the address to our website in the STD.

Re: IS IT.......
WE're not sending them out b/c a lot of friends have been making fun of them lately - but that's not the reason we're not doing it! We decided that everyone we're inviting already knows we're engaged and getting married in April....saving the cash!
We didn't have an engagement party either!

Re: IS IT.......
I agree it's NOT a necessity. I have chosen to do them (for OOT guests mostly) because our wedding is on a Thursday and it's the Thursday before 4th of July 'weekend'.

Re: IS IT.......
definately not required UNLESS you are a holiday weekend & have TONS of OOT guests...I did them as a nice touch for people to know what was going on with the planning

Re: IS IT.......
I will do them because we are getting married labor day weekend, and 1/22 our guests are OOT.
also- they can be done very cheaply.

Re: IS IT.......
We did it just cause it's a good idea, esp in June there's so much going on with graduations and stuff. Definitely not a requirement but I think it's helpful to your guests. Besides I was so excited that we had a definite date I wanted to share it with everyone I knew!

It's an option. I wasn't going to do it but now I am. I think it's a good touch.
ETS: Plus I am getting married on a Friday. I want people to make arrangements at their jobs.
