for the mothers to wear the same color dress? My mom bought a dress Thanksgiving weekend and my MIL tells me this week that she is thinking about buying this particular dress she saw - in the same color as my Mom's! At this point in the game I am just grateful that the MIL is looking for something to wear. Should I make a fuss about it or let it go?

I would see how your mom feels about it, if she doesn't care then I would leave it alone.

I haven't seen the mothers wearing the same color at many weddings but I don't think it's that big of a deal if they're both OK with it

Re: Is it acceptable....
does it bother you? if not then i would let it go. Personally these type of things never bothered me so I didnt care at all. BUT I do know some brides don't like it so it all depends on you. I say as long as they are happy then that is fine. I know theres always rules people have when it comes to weddings but honestly follow the rules where yes you are respectful of people and all that but certain rules, if you dont care about it then dont even think about it.
If you are ok with it, and your mom is ok with it then let her pick whatever

What color is it? If its like champagne or another neutral color I think it will be fime. If they were both wearing royal blue it might seem strange.....I dont know JMO

The MOB picks first. Does your mother mind?
Honestly I've decided to not sweat the small stuff. I wouldn't make a big deal about it. If it makes her happy and really it's not ruining your day then it's no biggie. I'd rather save it for a bigger and better issue, if 1 arrises. At least they will match! It could be worse.. she could be picking out a color that COMPLETELY clashes with all your other colors - then think about the pictures!

I'm not a very fussy bride, so it really doesn't bother me. And my mom is even less concerned about those things (actually her comment to me was 'I'll still look better!'). My thinking was why would you even want the same color - be different.

seems like its ok with her so hey why not. ALso, different designers the colors can look different so who knows might not be exact. Plus if one has alot of beading and another doesn't then it can look very different.

Re: Is it acceptable....
I think thats up to your mom....shes the mother of the bride and your MIL should have asked you or your mom what color shes wearing first........if its ok with you mom then i totally think its acceptable.....my mother wants to wear black! and she gave me grief about my bridesmaids wearing black!
