Is it bad luck....

To have someone buy you a set of knives off your wedding registry, or bad luck to buy them for yourself? I always forget which one.

What is everyone else doing?

ive heard the knife thing too, but like your FH seeing you before the wedding, its all just a bunch of balogna!!

I've never heard that was bad luck. I've heard though that u can't buy shoes to ur boyfriend, fiance, or DH 'cause they can 'walk' away from u

I've heard this about watches too. The first thing I ever bought FH was a watch and that was almost 7 years ago

if someone buys it for you off of your registry, they're supposed to give you money also. dont quote me though

it's like that old myth - if you buy knives for someone, it's like breaking/'cutting' your relationship with them so i can see why ppl used to not have them on their registries. Same thing for shoes - they'll 'walk away' from you. But what I heard is if you give them $ in return (even a penny), that'lll break that curse or whatever is - stupid, i know. But i actually do this when somebody buys me shoes

in italian culture, if someone were to get me knives from my registry, i would have to give them a coin back and then it would be ok

that's what i meant before - i always gave somebody like a penny, nickel, dime, whatever if i got shoes - or in your case - knives, as gifts
