That I am 'helping' my mom with ideas for decorating, favors, games etc. I am not picking things out, just giving her suggestions since she doesn't know what is 'in' for bridal showers . . . She is very shy about asking my BP, because then she thinks they will try to offer $ (she refuses to take $ from any of them.) Is this bad that I am 'participating' to a small extent in my shower planning?

No, I don't think so. Maybe your mom could ask the bp to help set up and take care of the favors and other things that are time consuming.

I don't think it is bad...because I am doing the same thing!
I have only a MOH, no other bridesmaids, and she is in school (not working), so I know she wouldn't be able to afford to throw a shower for me. I suggested to my mother that we have it at my uncle's house in NJ (my family is from NJ, FI's is from LI--since the wedding is going to be on LI, I thought it would only be fair to have the shower in NJ). We are going to have a His and Hers shower, with a BBQ. This was all my idea.
I will know the date ahead of time, since my mom will have to come up from Florida for it. I'm sure I will have additional input as time goes by. I plan on even contributing some $$ to it.

Um no.. I basically picked the venue and went with my mom to look at it.. Although any time I try to 'help' after that- she yells at me.

I agree that I don't think it is that bad at all. I do the same thing...I show her favors and invitations...she jokingly yells at me not to be involved but I am more actively looking for wedding things and on websites so I have more of a chance of finding ideas!

Its your bridal shower so why shouldnt you have a say...I think things would be much better if all brides were included in the planning...me personally i hate surprises lol

It's not a bad idea at all. I'm the MOH in a wedding and I've asked the bride what she would like and told her to let me know certain things she does not want. This way she gets things she likes and it makes it easier for the BMs! Have her check out the MOM board for ideas!

I am doing the same thing, even moreso! I am going looking with my mom for venues for my shower and I plan to know whats going on with it in terms of planning an d decorating, etc...

I don't think it's bad to help your mother but I would try not to make it apparent to your guests.

I don't think it's bad considering I planned my entire bridal shower with my sister and mom. I even picked out the place and date!!! I wanted to be involved..Good luck!!
