Is it bad that I'm just getting started?

Wow! I started clicking through the posts today and I feel like I'm way behind! We went to the Westbury Manor last night for the bridal showcase and I thought I felt overwhelmed then!

We booked our venue (WM) in December and our wedding date is 1/20/13. Other than the venue and choosing the wedding party, we've done nothing. Any suggestions on where to start?

Don't freak out! (That is my first tip )

I was at the WM showcase last night too, and I think it would have been overwhelming for anyone. As long as you have your hall booked, you shouldn't feel too overwhelmed, especially for an off season wedding, I am sure there are a ton of vendors that still have availability.

I would suggest you start researching photographers and DJs, as well as videographers (I booked with Couped-Up Productions- beautiful work, very professional, and def one of the more affordable but still high quality vendors), if that is something you are interested in. If you plan on reserving a block of hotel rooms for your guests, I would look into that soon too - I am booking with the Viana Hotel & Spa. It's beautiful, luxurious, and only slightly more expensive for your guests than the nearby chain hotels - also it's lest than 10 minutes from WM.

You should definitely book your major vendors. Don't try to book them all at once so you won't be feeling too overwhelmed because you will find yourself going to appointments everyday if that's the case. Take it one step at a time. Try to have them booked by the summer time so that way you can focus on the other smaller details.

dont worry! all ive done is my RH so far too lol but this site gives you tons of ideas and helps outline what you need to get done and when!

were doing dj now, then photographer, then flowers, then ill start doing dress/bm dress/etcc

I would def do photo and DJ next! Especially if you want someone specific! Also - start dress shopping!!!

Don't worry about I think. I ditto the bride who said that this site can overwhelm you. You have got PLENTY of time. I got engaged less than 10 months from my wedding date; and I took a solid 3 months off of wedding planning in the midst of it.

Start with the vendors who will be yours exclusively (photographer, DJ). The focus on those who can do more than one party in a day, like the florist. Everything will come together!

Thank you all so much! I am feeling better already! I guess the key is to just take it one step at a time and your responses gave me some great starting points! I have small children so it makes planning this so much harder! :)
