It depends on what you're looking for. If you're looking for an extravagant 4-tiered box wrapped in fabric with crystals, it might be best to just have someone make it for you.
If you want something a little less elaborate or have a lot of materials at home already, it could be worthwhile to DIY.
I bought a fabric-covered card box at Michael's with a coupon (actually my MOH bought it for me) for $18 and then she put a gorgeous bow on it (at least I think it's gorgeous!) in my colors. I love it and it wasn't very expensive at all! Some of the ones you get made by people can be $85 and up. Others are way less but not nearly as extravagant.
What sort of design do you envision?

Re: is it cheaper to
Theres this seller on ebay that charges $49.99 for a 3 tiered and her work doesn't look bad at all but I'm not to sure
I bought a predesigned box from AC moore and called it day. I cut a opening for the envelopes $10

I think it's cheaper to make one. Or to buy something that isn't an actual wedding card box (ex. hat box, bird cage). Just putting the word wedding in front of anything seems to jack the price up.

Thanks, Bonnie!
I'm very happy with it! I'm also the kind of gal who's had a cardboard box with cards I've received sitting in my apt for years, so I'm looking forward to using this particular box in the future to store holiday cards and other sentimental items. Kinda a bonus.

I think its cheaper to make one. I decided not to because Im not crafty and could see myself messing up the cardbox and then have to buy another one lol

Did anyone look at that link I posted in the thread... I was thinking about ordering from that seller, but does it look 'cheap' to you? lolol $50 doesn't seem bad for one of her card boxes, but I'm a bit skeptical.

Re: is it cheaper to
I wound up spending a lot on mine thinking it would be cheaper but it prob comes out to about the same. I love my card box though so I wouldn't change a thing.

That box is pretty.. but I can customize my own. II'm just skeptical on ordering one from that seller. It says to buy the boxes and then in comments you specifye your colors and what you want on it and you only get chearged the $50 that you paid in the begining.
