To spend $8,000 on a photography/video package? I''ve been to 4 photography places and I just love this one!! They ate amazing. The pics are like they belong in magazines! Very artiatic, edgy... What I don't love is the fact that they won't give me a disk with all high resolution photos for 3, or 5 years!! I will get a web ready cd that I can upload to social networking sites. Ideas? Comments? Help? Does anyone know the size of images on a web ready cd? Really torn on this one. I have another photographer who is good-not great. And the paklckage has quite a bit more, for 3,000 less. ...confused

It depends on how important it is to you...do you have to spend that much...NO, but if its something that you just do not want to compromise on then do it.

i am spending about the same for photo and video...but i am using 2 separate companies
and my wedding video is going to be documentary style and photojournalistic with an full edit and a trailer
If you think the work is worth it, then obvi no i do not think its crazy
i think its most important to spend the most on photo and video bc those are the things you will have forever!!!!
however, i would negotiate the rights to your photos and have it in writing.
I get a hard copy of all my pics and the actual printed proofs with full rights. I am not sure Id be willing to negotiate on that
normally web ready photos are lower quality, generally not good quality to make prints or enlargements
you need them to specify that you get a high res disc with full rights for that kind of price they should budge on that!

If its a good company which you love its very worth it. photos and video capture your wedding so IMO its one of the most important vendors.

The fact that they won't give you a hig res disc at that price is unacceptable!!!!!! There are a lot of wonderful photographers that will give you a high res disc right away. I would second guess this person's work. You are paying him/her so they should give you the disc. My photog package came out to 2900 and my photog is very artistic and edgy with magazine quality. Plus he gives us a high res disc and we're not locked into an album or anything else, unless we choose to purchase those items. I would definitely shop around for other photogs.

I want artistic and edgy with magazine quality. Would book with tp, but Tom isn't avail. Duet is booked. Imagine is booked. Patken photog who's avail wasn't my style. TimXpo sure wasn't toouch of my style. Maybe a photo here n there.... Any others? B M A t T h e W S style is what I'm looking for. Here were the 2 pkgs w/ 2 diff photogs, ones my fav, other is just okay. 3k diff.
Package 1: ((favorite pics ever!)) -15x10 custom album 50 pics (250 for xtra page=12 photos) -engagement shoot-we pics loc -all 4x6 original proofs (not written on) -(1) 16x20 -(3) 8x10 -(3) 5x7 -(25) engagement shots put online so people can buy -(100) wedding shots put online so people can buy -web ready cd (can only upload to Facebook) they aren't high resolution. -baby session (for future). -high resolution disk in 3 years. -bideo (3)edited DVDs (menu and chapters) & raw footage.
Package 2:(not that great of photos)
-$3000 cheaper. -15x11 Custom album 80 pics -engagement shoot w/5x7 album(sunken meadow) -all 6x8 thankyou cards -All pics high resolution on DVDs -(3) 8x10's 2 are made ********. -(2) 5x7 parent albums (they pic 30) -one pic for every bridal member -Around 800-1000 4x6 color proofs; not written on. -video(3) edited DVDs (menu and chapters) & raw footage.

I think Photo and Video are the most important vendor you will choose so I think its important you go with someone you LOVE...but at the same time you need to be comfortable with their terms...did you try to talk to them about what you are not comfortable with?

I agree that photo (not so much video) is a very important vendor and you should get what you want but I think that to spend $8,000 and have to wait 3-5yrs is a little bizarre and would drive me insane. I would not do it. I also beleive you could find a photographer whose work you love just as much that would be willing to do everything to your specifications for that price or even less There are many great photogs out there JMO

nope not at all! my sister paid 10k for her photographer/video package. - I didn't and I am super happy with my photos!!! But these are your memories - go with your gut! you want these photos to be 100% what you want!

Thanks girls! I'm looking into more photographers. Something just isn't sitting right with this one that I love. The reason they hold the high res photos is so that I spend a couple thousand dollars more to get them printed, with them. I'm going to have to check some some out before I just go with the one Who's pictures I love, but not soo much the package. I think this is the hardest vendor...

u may like *************....they were really beautiful...there one of jt preferred vendors..they were out of my budget though..they were 6000 or 7000 but they do the same thing with the high resolution cd and stuff

If you like the photog/videog and you can afford it, then why not.
