is it even worth it??? (long sorry - but need your advice)

some of you may remember me posting awhile back about my parents being so weird about everything since we got married...they never EVER call us or return our calls and gettign them to see us is near impossible....everytime i ask its 'oh, well we were so busy we couldn't call you back' (i should add they both work but on weeknights never go out since they leave for work early inthe morning)...i have tried in the past to talk about it but they say i am blowing it out of proportion....

i called them last on sunday and left a msg but still have not heard back; i have not broken down and called them again like i usually do either....i really want to just have it out with them already but i also want to see what happens, my birthday is this weekend and i will be crushed if they either don't call me at all or they are mad at me for it.....but i just can't take this anymore either....i am a good daughter and don't cause them any trouble....i just don't get it..they also love my dh...but seem to show it in a wierd way....they haven't even expressed any interest in seeing our house

sorry this is long but it makes me so sad....we lost dh's mom and miss her so greatly still and i can't understand why my parents don't want to be a part of our lives.....

could it be that something is going on with them and they are avoiding you because there is something that they don't want to talk about?

Did you live with your parents before you got married? Or were you on your own? Did they call you then? Do you have siblings? Is it the same with them and your parents?
Sorry for all the questions - just trying to make sense of this.

i lived on my own...they called me but not as often as i would check in to see how they were..i have one sister who is the same as they are, very antisocial (she actually skips every holiday now too - stays in her room...but thats another sotry!) and who has decided she doens't need them or me...she lives in their house with a deadbolt on her door and go into her room when she is home, it is so rude.

Hey Deirdre,

Sorry to hear nothing has improved... I would definetly try to sit down and talk to them, even if they don't call you back... maybe you could just 'show up' one day when they aren't expecting it... I hope things work out for you!

Happy Birthday :)

On another note, I got my wedding gown! Very excited, only took three stores LOL... we have to do Bertuccis again soon!

Deirdre I am so sorry that this is still going one. But as far back as I remember you talking about them they have been doing this. They didn't support you when your sister wasn't saying and doing hurtful things to you before your wedding and during your wedding planning. Only you can answer how much you can take them hurting. I wish I could give you an answer, but I am in a similar position with my Father. For me it has come down to IF I call him and he doesn't call me back I DON'T call him anymore. I will not chase my own father for love anymore. So there were times we would go 6 months without talking. Now that I am PG he is doing better it took him a month to return my call this time.

You have to decide what is best for you sweetie
