At the bridal shower is usually where you get most of the stuff from your registry, stuff for a new house, stuff for your new life together. Traditionally it's the bridal party that hosts it and plans it, but it can be anyone really.

Its not important to have one, its just nice to have one. My mother is hosting mine.

My mother & my sister are hosting my shower. I am registering and hoping to get some of my stuff then.

For wedding presents we mostly got $$, so the shower was where I got most of the registry stuff. It's not necessary, but it was fun, and we got our house stuff like plates and bedding. My MIL and SIL planned mine (my MOH lives in Michigan). My mother was opposed to planning it because most of the etiquitte books say MOB shouldn't host since it is asking for gifts for her daughter. But now people seem to have anyone plan it.

I received a lot of gift when I got engagged so I feel weird having one for gifts since the wedding is in June.

I know how you feel. We have received almost everything off of our registry already --for our engagment. I am not having a bridal shower for the same reason you mentioned above. I just feel weird about it. Plus a lot of my guests are flying in so for them to pay for a bridal shower gift on top of an engagement gift, wedding gift, and plane tickets, I just feel bad. So we're not having a shower. --But its really up to you.

I think it is semi advantageous to have a bridal shower. For the most part either your mom and/or your bridal party plan the event.

Ohh if you got everything when you got engaged I probably wouldn't. I feel quilty like I kept asking for gifts!

it's nice to gather and celebrate in a more intimate wy prior to the wedding, but not neccesary.

My mother is paying, and my BM's (sisters) are helping with details.

A shower is a nice gesture from people that are close to you...i think my moh and BP and both mothers are throwing mine..its a time to get most of your items for the home and the wedding usually people give $$$

I think showers are really special...a time for the girls to get together and 'shower' you with love and presents too

It depends on what you like. I have never been to a bridal shower that I enjoyed all that much. They are just not my thing.
FH and I decided to have a casual engagement party instead and it was so much fun. We got to celebrate together and people were very generous and gave us a lot of stuff from our registry.
I am not having a shower b/c that would be asking for 3 gifts (E-party, shower and wedding).

But just go with whatever you feel comfortable with.

It is my understanding that either the bride's mom throws it or the bridal party....or both.
