I contact vendors all the time by email to get info. I do most of my wedding stuff while I am at work. Everytime I contact someone to get info I ask them to please contact me back by email....that is the only way I can communicate at work. I don't understand why no one can do that! I get so many voicemails on my cell phone from them calling me...'I see that you would like some more info, if you could please call us back...' NO NO NO!!!!! EMAIL ME!!!!! and if I do get an email it is...'I see that you would like additional info about our services, so if you could just please call us at your earliest convenience...' NO NO NO !!!!!! All I want is someone to let me know a ballpark of their packages and prices. I don't have much spare time, and I need to weed out things I can afford and things I cant!!!! I don't know if anyone else has this problem, but I feel like I'm never going to get anything done playing phone tag.

Re: Is it just me?
I really had this problem with my initial search with vendors. I would get just call us to make a appointment. NO I DON' WANT TO CALL i want to get pricing first to see if you are anywhere near my range then I will call to make an appointment. STUPID i just understand in this day and age where we can't just do simple transactions via email.
I bet you it is because they don't want you printing it out and using it against them if they misquoted etc.

Re: Is it just me?
I guess that makes a little sense, but I remember a lot of things in the past I have booked, they have printouts of packages and pricing in the shop. I don't understand why it cant come to me.....why do I have to make an appointment to talk to them before I have an idea of how much they cost?!?!?!?!!?

I had the same problem.. I wasnt going to travel to LI if you are way out of my price range. I loved CLM for releasing that info over e-mail and their price was in my range.. i just thought they were so easily accessible.. All my other vendors were the same. And thats why i've went with them so far. But when i'm trying to contact limos and i fill out their forms and ask that they contact me by e-mail.. .i still get calls.. and if i do get an email its to tell me to call them!!

I hear you! I hate that soooo much. I must rather go thru emails. It is easier to keep track of things. and then... like you said you have so many voicemails... dont you think if we wanted to use the phone we would have called ourselves and not used an email?

I'm much better with email too! When I was searching for halls I specifically told them that I was on a budget and didn't want to waste my time or theirs. If they could just email me a rough estimate price quote and I would contact them. Everyone called and wanted to set up an appt. I understand they want me there to sell the product but I didn't feel like driving all over LI!

Re: Is it just me?
That makes me sooo mad.
It makes it so difficult to get things done. If I made an appointment with every vendor I was interested in using... It would take me 6 years to plan this wedding! That's why I am only booking vendors that are completely up front about their costs without having to make an appointment.
Why don't they realize that it wastes both their time and ours when they force us to make an appointment. Then we go all the way there just to find out they cost a ton more then what we wanted to spend anyway.

It ***** but MOST of them will never just come out and give you a price quote...For some it is completely understandable bc it can range so much depending what you want...I mean look when people ask a question here, all of us will start asking questions first and asking for more info to give a more accurate quote...For example flowers theres no way someone can give a general quote for that...Even photography is hard bc theres different packages, depends on different things and what youre looking for.
Plus its better to go in person to try and negotiate the price...There are vendors who might give you a price list but if you meet them they might be willing to work with you and if you go just by their price list then you might miss out on a vendor you were interested in and would be happy with the price they negotiate with you but you'll never find out.

Well in my situation I was also asking around for minimum requirements. Many places I could afford the pp price but I just can't gaurantee 175! Places were hesitant to do even that!
I think I posted once about price quotes that people recieved form various vendors. I have since learned it's best to just get recommendations and visit in person. Because although price is a major factor... you also want to get a long with your vendors. You also want value. I booked my DJ because his style was already what I was looking for. I won't have to tell him what I'm looking for because we are on the same page. He also seems to genuinely love his job!
Anyway to get back to topic... if I tell someone the best way to contact me is by e-mail at least send an e-mail first! Already you are telling me you can't do what I ask.

well thats weird that they can't answer about a minimum requirement, that is completely different.
Yes, i agree 100% another reason why people should go see the vendor in person, definitely need to see your interaction with them.

Re: Is it just me?
I inquired at a reception hall in Smithtown and they wouldn't tell me the price per person or the min. amount of guests they require. She asked me what day and how many guests. She gave me a price based on that. About a week later I had a friend inquire and they gave her a different price per person based on a different amount of guests for the same day. So, either way they are getting the same amount of $. But, if you have fewer guests they just increase the cost per person.
