Feeling so blue and so bummed. I'm second guessing practically everything.
I *know* I want to marry FH, but everything else is seeming not right/not good enough, particularly when it comes to my 'look': hair, make-up, engagement photos...
I'm never a fan of how I look in photos, but I feel like this is going above and beyond that. I want to be in love with how I look on my wedding day and in my photos, but it just doesn't feel like it will happen and it's making me incredibly unhappy. I feel like the trials I've had make me look old/matronly. And I can't really figure out why, so I don't know what to change.
We're going through so much other stress (both wedding-related and not) and we're very close now, so there's a lot of pressure to finalize everything, so I don't know how much that plays a part in all this...
I just want to be happy and enjoy this last month of planning, but I don't know how to do it. Is there something wrong with me or is anybody else going through this?

I don't think there's anything wrong with you at all! I haven't even had a hair trial and I'm already terrified about how I'll look. We put SO MUCH pressure on ourselves for this one day that we can't help but feel like nothing is good enough. There's an entire industry dedicated to making us feel that way. We're our own worst critics and we work ourselves into a tizzy worrying about it. I just peeked at your trial pictures and you look beautiful!!

I'm not even doing a trial. I know my best 'look' and that's what I'm going with.
As far as your hair goes, have you considered doing a half-up style? Long hair lends a youthful look. I don't think you look matronly btw. I think you look 'classic'/ romantic. What are you wearing in your hair? That can make a huge difference too.
Are you trying to satisfy yourself and FH, or everybody else? Trying to satisfy everyone else is a losing proposition. Since I'm doing most of the planning, I try to remember I'm doing it for FH. Years from now our wedding will be a distant memory to everyone else, but WE will remember it.

My opinion: your hair needs way more going on at the top. It's too flat for your shape of face, which is very nice and you want to highlight it. I would consider extensions(clip ins) and try a style that has more height. Also I agree a half up do might be very dramatic. It's hard to tell without seeing your headpiece, but that would help also. You also might what to try more dramatic eye makeup to emphasis your pretty eyes. This makeup is more of a simple daytime look when maybe what you want is more intensity. Your face is a good example of a 'canvas'-all your features are nice and symmetrical and you don't have any problem areas that need to be hidden so you can have many many different looks. I think you just need to play around more with your hair and makeup and go for more 'Wow!'

I completely agree with this. You should check out my pics in my album. I just got hair and makeup trail and I'm doing the half up/down style. I think it looks romantic but still youthful. Also, I'm going to The Studio in Babylon. If you go to their website they have great examples of updos that are very youthful as well.

I think the hair in first and makeup in second looks best. I'm a stylist and I agree I would just give you some more volume on top and a little bit on the sides. Trying to post something for you here but cant seem to do. I will put in album for you. Wouldn't download with new album. Its in makeup album. Good Luck
Have you considered wearing your hair down?? I think the style above my post would look so good on you. I would go for another trial and bring that picture with you! Don't settle if you didnt like the first trial - it's your big day!!
As far as makeup I think they can def emphasis your eyes more - I would try a diff artist!

I would love to do down or half up half down, but no matter what has ever been done to my hair, if it's down in the humidity, it looks awful...
Mid-August and my hair are not friends...

Why don't you try Dusti from Fire Monkey? She does AMAZING updos that are youthful. https://www.facebook.com/FireMonkeyHairDesign
A good layered haircut would be the place to start, in my opinion, but don't cut our hair until you get the advice of the stylist you love! I ended up growing out my bangs on the advice of my stylist in order to get the style I want for my wedding. Try a high style at least once. Also, you should consider extensions. I found out that almost every single celebrity you see on the red carpet or in ads or anywhere has extensions! That why they always have great hair. I am only doing them for the wedding, but wow they make a difference.

besides the comments everyone else is making (which could solve the problem!) i think when it all comes together is what really makes it special. if you feel good at all with the makeup or hair separately, not wearing the dress and the jewelry and the headpiece.. then you will feel AMAZING on your big day! something magical happens when youre actually a bride. and we are always our own worst critics!

the pic of you in the dress in your album, with your hair down. thats where you look best! because it's you.
i would consider leaving your hair down and having someone style soft, controlled waves. you look beautiful! i know, you just want to feel like a princess that day, and you will. it all comes together. dont try to change yourself too much. thats when we dont feel right, you know?

AMEN TO THAT!!!! No matter what you think might look good, you have to think what looks good on you. If you want you're hair up but it's not YOU, then don't do it! You should look as happy as you do when you're in that dress!!
