I sent out invitations, addressed, by name, to who at the house I was inviting. Because my mother's family is insanely large and I have about a million cousins there were some instances where I invited my aunt and uncle and not my cousins. I tried to give my family the benefit of the doubt and left the # attending part blank (even though my mom said I should have filled it out myself. yes, this is what is usually done in my family).
So, why I have I gotten at least four RSVP's with:
# attending......4 !!!!
I only invited 2 of you!!!!!!!!!!!

Ugh I am dreading this as well. Like you, I have a huge family where I am only inviting aunt and uncle w/ no cousins. I can already determine who the problems are going to be and the uncomfortable phone calls to come...

I had that happen to me quite a bit! A lot of people took the liberty of giving themselves a guest and invited their children...I had to have DH call them and let them know that it was only addressed to either one person or the couple.

I'm having my mom do all my dirty work and CALL these people! I would LOVE to invite everyone but it just isn't possible!
My FAVORITE one was well, my wife and I are separated but can I bring my girlfriend?

LOL, when you have a hispanic family, this happens. My Cuban side will be bring six minimum in some instances. And the Italian side? Sh*t, some think they are bring their kids!

I KNOW this is going to happen to me, I have an extremely large family and so does FH. I know it may be seen as 'tacky' but I have to put the # of seats reserved in your honor on the response cards to prevent this.

FH aunt by marriage asked MIL if I could invite the person who will be driving them to the wedding since they do not drive. This person is a complete stranger to me. Hell NO

I'm scared of this a little bit as well.
Maybe instead having them write in how many guests... and instead of us writing the number on the line... would it be wrong or weird to have them circle a number... 1 or 2?
I think I might do that anyway.

Oh I feel your pain! We invited on of FH's friend alone and he RSVP'd with 3 guests and himself... He wasn't the only one who did that either... lol... What are you going to tell them??

My cousin FLAT out told me he is bringing his entire family which consists of his new wife and her children..that is total of 5....so I know I am going to have this problem

I saw on an invite once where the response card said Two seats have been reserved for you...
Then the attending or not attending.
Since I don't have my invites done yet I am thinking about doing this...

I know this is going to happen to me...I'm trying to accept it and move on, but it's causing me to go gray. And it totally doesn't matter with the personalized RSVPS too. And they'll call FMIL to be like why does it say 2 seats have been reserved, and she'll totally tell them oh no, all of you come and then like 7 will show up

I honestly think its a culture thing. People just except their whole family to be invited and honestly it does not go like that. For that reason I HAVE to put in the number of people attending.
