Is it lame to not do centerpieces?

Is it lame to not do centerpieces?

FH and I have to seriously cut our budget and were wondering if it would seem cheap if we skipped the centerpieces and just put out tons of votive candles instead?

Thoughts?

Our hall as of right now is CB.

We aren't doing limos or video and aren't sure where else we can cut the budget.

I dont think its lame - doing votives or even sprinkling some flower pedals on the tables will look just fine!!!

My friend from hs had a super-budget wedding and he CP's were a square mirror with a vase on top and a large white candle in the vase... and she sprinkled petals on he table. Was very simple but very pretty.

She originally wanted to do floating candles int he vases but her venue wouldn't allow it.

So you can do something very simple and pretty without breaking the bank on flowers... bt I'd def put SOMETHING on the table.

ETA; She go everything from a craft store... not sure if it was Michael's or JoAnn

Votives count as centerpieces! Definitely consider adding petals... or you can raise the votives up on a fabric covered box to give it more height. Or you can go with different sized pillar candles on a mirror....

Candles always look gorgeous!!

i agree - you might want to look into doing CPs yourself - just go to Michaels, buy a bunch of nice glass vases and then go to Costco like a day or two before the wedding and buy every rose they have lol. One of my friends did this b/c she got married at Oheka and went WAYYYY over budget w/ everything so she couldn't afford to do professional flowers. It was gorgeous anyway!

My hall is doing taper candles with a single rose in a vase.

Maybe you can do something simple like that. If not its not lame to not do them. I think its something that would bother you more than your guests.

Honestly it is not lame. You do what you can afford! My friend had lighthouses on her tables to go with her nautical theme and it was really nice!! Alot of times centerpieces are alot of money. I'm sure you can come up with something to put there in its place!

not at all... you do what you can afford to do...

I love all candle CPs - they are very elegant and romantic. As someone said, maybe just add a few petals to the table to add some color and that would look beautiful.

Thanks girls! I think FH and I will book a florist for just the bouquets and boutonnieres and then add in centerpieces later on if we can work it into the budget. Do you think most florists would be willing to do this?

I think most florists would let you do the bouquets and bouts and add (if you want CP)..I would just make sure you give them enough time to order flowers if you do add CPs

I agree with the others..you can do candles and just petals..I really like the covered boxes ides

It's not lame to do just candles. You could do the cp yourself...something simple maybe in pretty simple vases or mason jars depending on what your venue looks like.
