Am I being silly for being upset that my FMIL didn't call me for my birthday today? I got a stinkin' e-mail saying 'wishing the birthday girl a happy birthday'. I am so sad. I thought we had a better relationship than that. I feel frustrated and FH is getting angry with me for feeling that way. He says I should focus on the people who did celebrate with me. TRUE I agree! But I just can't help it. How would you handle that? It's just a stinkin' phone call.......

Nope. You aren't strange. My MIL and SIL both forgot my birthday. DH (FH at the time) had to call them both to remind them. I will give SIL a minor pass b/c she had a 3 week old. But I make every effort to remember their things and they don't remember us (DH too, it's sad).
Some people just don't think.

don't worry i never get a call, i do get a gift i'll never really use whenever she buys it, as in a month before my birthday

Not only did my MIL forget my bday, so did my HUSBAND of 13 days!!!!! I woke up all happy and married and waited and waited and waited for him to say happy birthday. We got into an argument. He went out and got himself breakfast so I made myself lunch. When he got back I asked him why couldn't he even acknowledge my bday? He looked at me and said oh, is today July 13th????? I was so mad at him. He really forgot the day. He knows my bday, he just had no idea what the date was. He must have called my friend and reminded her, cause she called me later and was like oh, happy bday. Then his mom called and said we are s c u m. we forgot. It was the most unspecial day of my life.

Yeah I won't worry about it. At least she acknowledged your bday.
My mother doesn't even call me on my bday, let alone my FMIL. :) As you grow older bdays are less important. And some also cultures don't celebrate bdays at all.

Don't worry about it. But I know how you feel, I love when people call me for my birthday, and I also feel alittle hurt when I don't get calls.
I hope your Birthday was very happy otherwise!!!

I don't get a call or an email. I'm fine with it. If MY family didn't do it, then I'd be really upset.
