Is it more common..

to have your bridemaid's dresses with a similiar neckline as your dress or different? I have a halter gown and was thinking it might be nice for the girls to have halters also... Then someone said that my dress should stand out more.. any opinions?

I've seen both and they both look good. Not much help, huh? Actually I think I've seen more with different necklines.

I bought my dress from Alfred Angelo, and if you go to alfredangelo.com and look at wedding dresses, there are suggested bridesmaid's styles for each specific wedding dress. That might help you get some ideas for bridal gowns and BM dresses that look good together but still have their own distinct styles.

i would be more inclined to do the opposite. If I end up with a strapless, the girls will have halter and vice versa. It depends how much you like things to match. Somethings I think contrast works more to your advantage aestetically than matching does. Does that make sense?

i actually picked out the bridesmaids dresses, then I picked out my dress. I decided that my dress was too similar to the bridesmaids so I changed their dresses to be totally different (note- nobody had gone to order the dress yet so it was not a big deal). you're the bride- if there is any day you should stand out rather than match, it is your wedding day.

The bride will ALWAYS stand out so don't let that be a reason for deciding one way or the other. Get a dress that you and your bridal party likes and looks pretty in.
