Is it normal that you use a 58 cents stamp for odd/small size RSVP cards?

THe post office just told me I had to put a 58 Cent Stamp on my RSVP card because the size is not standard. Is that correct?

They said I had to pay an extra surcharge.

It seems like a lot for a tiny card.

I actually just had a smiliar issue. The woman told me that I needed a 75cent stamp for my invites, when the person before told me I needed 58cents. I am very confused. 58 for a RSVP card sounds a LOT. I know they go by dimensions. Go to www.usps.com and check it out, they have a postage calculator that might help.

it is possible mine JUST made it for a regular stamp - if they were a bit smaller they need more money

i think its bc they are too small to go through the machines. . . i know even though mine made it - i got about 5 that were ripped completely in half!! so any smaller would definitely get stuck

the post office is just RIDICULOUS these days... to mail my headshot out, WHICH FITS INTO THE STANDARD WEIGHT REQUIREMENT as a regular letter(i know 'cause they weighed it), costs me freakin 94cents because 'it's in a large 9by12 envelope'....IS THAT INSANE?!?!?!! i usually do anywhere from 15-35 mailings a WEEK! that adds up to a lot per month! needless to say i can't do as much anymore(which KILLS me 'cause it's my career)...but thats a dollar a letter! ridiculous.

I just went to the post office and becauses its the holidays it was so crowded but I sent out a package to my fsil for christmas and it cost me $10 and it was so light! It was pajamas, slippers, and socks!

I think its nuts that its more expensive to mail smaller items!!!!

Mine were 'postcard' size and so they sold me ugly but less expensive postcard stamps... $.26 I think! Either way, all my RSVP's made it back to me

it also depends on the lenght and height it is bigger the the normal letter then yes i would use the 58 cent stamp, also go and have the check the invite to make sure how much it will be to mail out

It is!!! I am freaking out bc I planned for the overage of the 58 cent stamp which was fine, but now not only is the 75 cent one going to kill my wallet, but it is UGLY!! It JUST misses the standard size requirement...so because it is slightly over they want to charge 75 cents each. Has anyone else had this problem? I did not order jumbo invites or anything, they are the square type, 7x7. The woman was really nice and told me that I could 'chance it' and put the 58 cent one on and depending on the clerk that day, it might work. I am so torn. Anyone have this experience?

I thought square envelopes always cost more, that's why they sell the square cards with those weird envelopes at hallmark?

Doesn't it seem strange that xmas cards might be tiny little things but you never have a problem with those? I have sent some pretty small note cards before with regular postage and no trouble....

Yup! I knew for sure they would be more (58 cents is what everyone told me including the place I ordered from). I thought 75 sounded crazy. I wasnt even aware they amde a 75 cent stamp!

I don't think you need to put 94 cents on it -- I haven't sent any out in a while, but when I did, they were 64 cents in the standard manilla envelope, that was less than a year ago

That just sounds so rediculous! If this is all true, I'll be sure to keep it in mind when purchasing my invites

wow that is nuts.. I'm so glad that mine are weighed (as of today) and we just need the 58 cent stamps for the invitation and the 41 cent ones for the RSVP cards.

I put a regular 41 cent stamp on my RSVP and it was fine. PO prices are a crock.

Do exactly as the post office say if you want your rsvps to make it back to you. Consider them God when it comes to this

I've actually noticed this year our office Christmas cards. If they are a 'weird shape' or smaller than 'normal' they have the 58 cent stamp on them. I've only budgeted X amount on postage, so I have to make sure my response cards will be 41 cents!!!
