Is it ok to buy your OWN props for the reception?

If you hire a dj without getting the extra props, like glow sticks and maracas (not that I want them) can you buy your own? I read the prices for crates of props and I KNOW I can get them cheaper elsewhere.....and maybe have someone besides the DJ hand them out....

I know our Dj, Music by Michael said we could. The only stipulation is that everything must be ready to give out. Meaning if you have any blow ups, they must be blown up, anything in packages must be removed, etc. etc.

I think it depends on the DJ. Im sure you can buy them and give them out thats not a problem.. but if you have a DJ that dosent like the idea he doesnt have to give them out for you... you would have to have someone else or yourself do it.

I don't see why you can't do it that way. I thought about it....but our DJ only charges $75 for half-crate of giveaways...and I figured, by the time I went and got all the stuff...and have somebody spend the effort to give it out...I didn't really save that much. So..the DJ will do it and we will get them from him.

I am buying my own give-aways. My DJ has no problem with it and I am finding them cheaper elsewhere anyway.

We were told we couldn't for insurance reasons. Which I believe is a bunch of bull. They just wanted us to pay them the money for stuff that we can get much cheaper. But oh well. What am I gonna do. My mom suggested we buy them and bring them anyway. What are they really going to do? Start a fight with me at my wedding.
