Is it okay

Is it okay

We're inviting friends of FH's...And I want to be specific with who they can bring with them(ie: their girlfriends!!!!! )
Is it okay to write the girls name on the invite I send to the friends of FH instead of writing: 'And guest' ???

Sure it's ok; it's actually recommended if the relationship has been a longstanding one.

Actually I think that's pretty cool on your part. Most girlfriends can agree that inviting them by name makes them feel good.

I think thats a great idea! It does also make the GF feel included by you, and not just as a guest.

do you know the girlfriends by nameuhng out with them, have they been together a long time, live together....

then by all means put the ladies' names on the inner envelope with her BF name....if they live together, both names on the outer envelope. If they do not live together, the mans' name on outer, both names on inner.

Yay!! I'm glad I got such positive feedback.
You're right...If it was me, I would be thrilled to pieces!! And his dopey friends are liable to bring other dopey friends as their: 'guests' if I didn't put a control on the situation.

Re: Is it okay

absolutely! thats' what I am doing.

I have one tricky situation though- a gay friend, living with his boyfriend.
going by the rules, I'd send the invitation to both of them.
However, most of our friends don't know about this situation & he may not want to bring him
So, do I invite him & guess & leavbe it up to him? Isn't that insulting to the boyfriend?

And I don't really want him to bring a random freind.

(oops-I appologize for getting off your original topic)

Talk to your friend and ask what he wants. THat;s the best way.

I have a gay friend who is not currently with anyone...I plan on inviting him without a guest...If as we get closer to the wedding date and he has a boyfriend, I will invite him (and put his boyfriends name on the invite..) I too do not want him bringing someone random.

I know, but he's really sensitive- I can see this conversation really causing problems. He'd probably prefer the '& guest', but his boyfriend would probably disagree.

Are you inviting your straight single freinds with guest? We are so, my single gay freings are also invited with guest, but I have a not single gay friend that everyoen else thinks is a single straight friend.

No. Unless they have a steady significant other, I am not inviting friends with guests...My wedding is not a social event free for all...I only want certain people there...

Then defintely, ( back to you're original question) invite teh guy's with their girlffriends, nto & guset. I have gotten invititations like this before, to me, with Fh's name on the inside. that way, there were eno 'and guests' I need to make my minimmum, so I figured peopel can bring guests if they want. MOST of them won't bring a random person they met in a bar the day they got the invitaiton.
