Is it possible to do too much cardio?

Is it possible to do too much cardio?

For instance tonight at the gym I was planning on 30 minutes on the elliptical and then 30 on the treadmill. Skipping weights tonight to rest.

Is the tread and elliptical tonight overkill? Just an FYI....my gym has a 30 minute limit on those 2 machines so I'd have to switch.

Thanks girlies :)

I don't think so. I think its great that you can do an hour cardio.

first off you need to listen to your body. I don't think hr is too much cardio. You want to consider your intensity too. (i.e. you coud run 4 miles in 40 min. or walk 4 miles in 60 min.)

Signs of overuse are soreness, fatigue, tired, injury, lack of balance.

Be careful and make sure you are drinking water, and eatting properly.

Nope, that's fine.

Sue - I can walk for hours........I love it. Put me on a boardwalk at a beach and I'm in heaven!!!

Jenny - thanks for the advice. I push myself but not to an extreme. I listen to myself and know when its time to quit and when its time to push myself.

Tonight on the elliptical I'll put the resistance down as low as I can b/c I bulk very easily and with my bad knees I don't push it. I'll be tired after that so I'll walk on the tread at 3.5mph instead of the 3.8-4.0 that I usually do.

I do it all the time. I will go on the elliptical or bike for half an hour..then do weights, and go run on the treadmill...that iw hen I have the time.
I get my heart rate going...then stop, and get it back up again
