what if you're not going to a salon and these people own their own business...
I mean... if I am paying $150 for hair and $125 for makeup, shouldn't that be enough?

well, the way I see it.... I am spending $400 between trials and the day of.... I think that's enough. if I were going to a salon and the person is just working there, that's different.

this question has been the topic of many debates and there's always two views: always tip for a service if you're happy with it, OR tipping is not necessary when they are reaping almost 100% of the profits and they are the owner of the business. do what you feel most comfortable with.

I would tip too- I know at least one person I spoke with rented salon space and then did hair for weddings on the side. They still have overhead involved so they're not really pocketing the full amount that you give them.

I am having difficulty with this myself. I just went to my hair trial yesterday and loved it but the trial was $125 and the day of the wedding is $250. she is coming to my house..i mean how much am i supposed to tip for that much money??

I believe in tipping within the salon if they work for one. If they work for themselves then no tipping.

I'd tipped the standard 20% for the trial and for the day of when they came to my house.

I'm going to tip probably 20% unless something goes wrong.

I believe you dont HAVE to tip if its the owner, because the $ is going directly to them.
I agree that the fees are high, but IMO sooo worth it to have someone come to your home. I am one who tips because I am happy with the service. I plan on tipping at least 20%, assuming it comes out nicely.

I tipped both during trials and the day of the wedding becasue I was thrilled with their serivce and the way they made me look. it's a personal decision

that was exactly my way of thinking. if they work for themselves and have no overhead, why tip them? you're already paying them SO much money!
if I was going to a salon for MU and hair, I would definitely tip.

If they pocket all the money, I'd say no obligation to tip. If they don't then by all means you should tip.
