Is it rude....

Is it rude....

not to invite my FSIL to my bridal shower? FH and I have not been getting along with his brother and his wife for quite some time. If you read any of my past posts you will know why. They are mean and have never welcomed me or made me feel like I am a part of the family. In fact they told me they hate us and want nothing to do with us. I sent my mom the list for my bridal shower but I told her I didnt want FSIL there b/c she either 1) won't come or 2) talk **** about me to FH's family at my own bridal shower. I dont want her to ruin my day. Is this selfish of me? I know this is not right etiquette wise, she should be invited b/c she is my FSIL but why should my day be ruined? I dont even want to look at her face she makes me that mad.

i understand where you're coming from, but i think you kind of need to invite her.

Be the bigger person....she'll look like an a-hole if she's not wonderful and gracious that day.

I think you should invite her too, if you dont your just giving her more stuff to throw back in your face and to talk about with other people. Invite her just to spite her and show her your a mature adult, unlike her. Good Luck

Go for it. We are not inviting FSIL to the wedding. It was FH's idea. They have not gotten along in years and I don't care for her either. In fact, 99% of the family cannot stand her It will cause some drama by not inviting her but we are paying for this 100% and the family will just have to respect our choice.....plus they all know she is a wretched, gossip that will do nothing but sit there being hateful and jealous

I am pretty much betting that she will call FH to apologize for all the turmoil she started just so she can try to get an invite. It won't work though.

I agree with that. These family issues are so stressful!

As much as I really really really want to say don't invite her, I think you have to. Hopefully she'll be smart enough not to come. I f she does attend, just make sure your bridesmaids know to keep her away from you on the day of your shower, that way she can't ruin your fun!

Re: Is it rude....

did your FSIL and her hub say this to your face? or is all this hear say? but if you feel that strongly for this person then don't. i invited some ppl i was clearly not too fond of to my shower and i def was not myself. one of the girls even brought her wedding photos. i thought it was a tad strange. well, i didn't pay any mind until my guests started pointing it out. eh.. old news. i say don't invite her if you feel so much tension there. no need to be all bummed out during your shower.
