...to not buy the jewelry for your bridesmaids? I'm not paying for hair or make-up either. I wanted to spent like $25-$30 on each person in the bridal party. I would rather get them something else instead of jewelry. I'm not picky and they can wear whatever they want, but I just don't want to come off as rude if I don't buy them the jewelry.

No you dont have to buy them jewelry, they can wear what they want. Do you have to pay for your BM hair and makeup? Bec I am not, dont they do that on their own. For my friends wedding I paid for my own things

I don't think it's rude. I was thinking of giving jewelry as a gift but I'd rather give something not having to do with the weddding to show my gratitude. Maybe something unique to each girl.

No no - you do what you can!
If you don't care what jewelry they wear, I say don't buy it!

Re: Is it rude...
not at all you dont have to get them anything specific just a token of appreciation for being in the wedding I am not getting my girls jewelry - not sure what i am getting them yet though.
i only wear the jewelry that FH buys me - so if i get jewelry for being in a BP i only wear it for that wedding!
Actually for my SILs wedding i 'forgot' to wear the M necklace she got me - oops. . . yet another thing i regret doing since i became engaged. . . i just didnt get why she would care that we all had on the same jewelry! OOPS!

I have two things that I wanted to get them...one I already bought, and the other one still in the works. I really want to post them on here, because they are great ideas, but my MOH is a lurking '07 bride! I don't know how to hide it...

No unless you make them wear a specific piece of jewelry then its different bc you cant tell them they HAVE to wear a certain piece but make them pay for it themselves, it wouldn't be right.

We are not obligated to pay for anything unless we want their hair and makeup to look one particular, often professional way. I know bms who ive been in weddings with who stomped their feet when they found out they werent havng their makeup and hair done on the bride,..
tough!!!! WERE NOT BANKS!!!!
A gift is a gift for saying thank you for being such an important part of my life. thank you for sharing my day. thanks for helping. so get them what you want, whats unique to you....whether its jewelery, boardgame, picture frame, scrapbook, bouncy ball, or a macaroni statue

Re: Is it rude...
We're giving members of our BP liquor... Probably good wine. I have toooooonnnns of jewelry that other people bought for me for being in their wedding, and frankly if I don't pick out my jewelry people tend to get me stuff I don't like and won't wear again, so I'm trying to keep that in mind.... I'd rather get them something they will use and not shove in a drawer... nobody keeps liquor in a drawer too long
