I don't think it's rude at all. Lots of people register there. As long as you hit different price points, it's fine.

Re: is it rude....
not at all.. my FSIL only registered there and I swear I was going to do the same thing because I got the dream club and I get points when people shop off my registry .. so I would make money and get tobuy stuff that wasnt completed off my registry later but then I registered at BBB becuase the bedding was cheaper ... but thats really it.. most of all the good stuff if from Fortunoffs and I compared prices and all the blenders and kitchen appliances are exactly the same price at both stores ... so Fortuoffs is not more expensive

That's not true. Don't listen to her. As long as you have things at all price ranges, it'll be fine.

Re: is it rude....
just be careful with fortunoff, hopefully they wont have anymore problems but for my shower nobody was really able to get me anything from my fortunoff registry. Everything was out of stock or on back order, and i mean like 90% of my stuff. Alot of ppl were telling my mother they went to fortunoff to get something off of my registry and couldn't. I checked the registry around the time of my shower and everything was on back order, so i knew i was hardly going to get anything from there. So i would also register somewhere else maybe just in case something similar happens again.
Also, not sure where all your guests live but there arent as many fortunoff's, for example in queens there isnt even one. Theres 2 big ones basically in NY, and both are in LI. Theres one in the city but its mostly Jewelry.

Personally, I loved registering at Fortunoffs. But, I don't know where all your guests are from and there are not Fortunoffs everywhere. Plus, I found that I liked a lot from other stores, as well, so I wound up registering at 3 places. You can do it online, so it's not that time-consuming for you.

We've had a couple of family members say the same thing... but honestly when I compared the prices at BBB they were actually almost identical.. so we just registered at both

Definitely not as long as you get things in a variety of price ranges.

Re: is it rude....
They let you use 20% coupon from BBB, so it isnt that bad. Plus if you sign up for their card you get points that add up and you get GC if I rememeber correctly.

I was gonna say that.
Also, my friend registered there and when she went to return items, it was a pain because you had to return at EACH department. That sounds rather inconvenient.

yeah and i was upset bc you are supposed to get 10% off items at fortunoff, we even applied for their card to gain points and if you have a registry there you get discounts on stuff. Well we got dh's wedding band from there, and when we tried to use the discount, they were being so difficult about it that we just got so annoyed and said ok just charge it without the freaking discount, although it was specifically on wedding bands you get a discount on if you have a registry. At this point we were just annoyed not only about that but they were very rude from the beginning. First the lady made a face at dh when he said what type of band he wanted and actually said 'ugh why would you want that' then she calls me over and said Uhmmm do you know what he is trying to get, i think you should know and not allow him. I turned to her and said it was my idea to begin with, i showed him and told him about it. She then just showed him 1 which wasnt even close to what we wanted, said sorry we dont have anything like that and just walked away. Then i asked another salesperson and they DID have the exact one we wanted in the cabinet the other lady was looking at. Not to mention that when we did go to register, we were in one department and there were about 5 salesladies talking to eachother and none would help us, they saw we were going crazy to find the price on something to scan it, and i had to call one over finally since all they did was stare at us doing this. Even then she took her time and finished her convo and didnt even help out, she said she didnt know and walked away.
Not saying i dont like them, bc they do have nice things but i went through alot of BS doing my registry there, and then to end it with not getting the discount on his band like we are supposed to and worst of all, for just about every item on my registry to not be available during my shower, so it ended up all being for nothing. I think i got 2 things off that registry bc thats all that was really available, actually 3 things but the 3rd thing i have NEVER received

as long as your guests are all local. I just moved to NY, and had never heard of Fortunoff's and I still haven't seen one in person.

Re: is it rude....
Wow! I am really suprised. I registered at fortunoff and they were great. I know they had problems last year (I guess it was early 2008) but now they are doing fine from what I heard. My registry is OK and all the items are in stock because I also check on-line all the time. It shows that alot of stuff was bought off it so far.
