I dont think it is rude or even expected for you to set up a room block. A suggestion is still just as nice.

Suggestions are awesome because then the guests at least know the options in the area they want to be in! Dont stress!

ITA with this
i have a block at a hampton inn and i have guests staying the fox hollow bc it's nicer there and they wanted a 'better' hotel - i didnt do a block at the fox hollow b/c they make you have a financial commitment if your rooms dont get blocked

I agree. There isn't a rule that says you need to set up a room block at all - it's just a nice gesture. I'm sure including local hotel information for those areas will be more than enough.

not rude at all. I have seen accomodation cards that have 'suggestions'. :)
