We registered last week, and my shower is going to be in March. FH and I have been debating: is it tacky or is it ok to put in the shower invites a note about where we have registered? I had read somewhere earlier that it was never, ever OK to put that information in any invitation, that it should spread only by word of mouth. But I know its fairly common, and I've gotten a lot of shower invites that mention it, and I certainly haven't been offended by it. I definitely would not do it for the wedding invites, but where do you ladies stand for shower invites? Your opinions would be much appreciated!!

Re: is it tacky??
My cousin got married last year and they had a note inside stating where she was registered. I don't think it's tacky I rather know where someone's registered make our lives easy.
PS when my party approaches I rather get what I asked for no more nonsense!!

The only time it is ok is for shower invites...The reason why is because usually it is not you who throws the shower, someone else does this for you, so you are not the one asking for the gifts. Its when you send out the invite yourself then you are not supposed to put your registry info in there.

When I registered at target they gave me little post it to put in the invites and it says target on them and for fsil shower we wrote down where she was registered so i think it is perfectly fine and not tacky at all HTH

I agree. It's totally acceptable. Matter of fact, I always thought it is EXPECTED. After all, your shower is usually hosted by someone other than you, so it's them hinting on where you're registered, not you....
It's only tacky if you stuff it in your wedding invitation....

When you send invites most people in my experience send them with the invitation.

Exactly, people do expect to see registry info for shower invites...If i didn't get one, i would probably call the person who is hosting it and ask them about it.

Personally, I think it's fine if you just politely state where you're registered. Chances are it will be more beneficial to the person shopping then anything else!

Nope many people do that. There is also a general website that if you type in a bride or grooms name, the places where they register come up.

Re: is it tacky??
the whole reason for a shower is to be vocal about your registry!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Its perfectly fine. THe wedding invitation is a NO NO.....but that is the whole purpose of a shower! Enjoy

Thanks so much girls! I know I can always rely on an honest answer on here
bettybcafe don't feel bad....it's just people's opinions and you have extenuating circumstances because you are not having a shower...i'm sure no one would be horrified if you slipped in a registry notice... i was just trying to get a heads up on what the proper etiquette was...
