Is it too early...

to order my invitations? FH wants me to order them now, but I am thinking it might be too early. (Getting married September)

Re: Is it too early...

I'm getting married after you and I put the deposit in for my materials to be ordered, but I have basically picked the colors and the design. The only reason I am waiting to have them printed is because Tammy recommended that I wait to have them go into production because situations come up and things happen.

I'm the day after you and I plan on waiting until April or May just because I don't want them laying around- they might get damaged/discolored.

If you found something you love maybe you can put a deposit and they can just hold off on printing them until March

its not too early if you have a place to store them.

If you want to start looking for invites go for it but I think actually ordering now is a little too soon. Things can change between noiw and then plus you will need to store them. Plus I am such an instant gratification type of person that I will want to mail them out the day after they arrived!

Re: Is it too early...

You could pick them out but I'd wait to order for two reasons: 1) something might change - my church for instance changed the time of their Saturday masses so they had to change the times of peoples' weddings. THey gave couples like 6 mos. notice but if people got their invitations printed before then, it would have been a major expense 2) your guest list could change. Adding another 25 invitations after the fact can get VERY expensive because the printer has to reset the plates to print it. In other words, ordering 100 invites from the beginning is A LOT cheaper than ordering 75, then adding 25. Hope this helps!

i'm waiting until the new year for invites bc of exactly what other ppl said, things happen, and i dont wanna get into a situation where i either change my mind or wind up wasting $

if you know exactly what you want and know your guest list i would say why not?
We're hoping to order ours by the end of this month and we're getting married in May. My family tells me thats too early - but i figure once we finalize the invitation, then why not?

I'm only a couple weeks after you and I'm definitely waiting for this exact reason.

Re: Is it too early...

well my wedding is in 3 mths and we still dont have them ( I am freaking out)but it will be done by the end of the week ( ordered) and the women who is doing it says it only takes 2 weeks and I will get them anyway I would started find colors and a pattern you guys like then work on a price that you like and then wording! FH loved the pockefolds and they where way too expensive so I finally found a coworkers friend who is doing them for half the price!
I would order them at least 4 mths before your wedding! But you should start getting ideas on what you guys would like!
