Is it too early for a dress?

Did any of you regret getting your dress super early? FH doesn't think its a good idea for me to start looking/buying.

I don't think it's ever too early...but there are new bridal collections that come out every season...you should start looking and seeing what styles you like so when you do decide to go, you already have an idea of what you are looking for...make sure you bring someone with you who will give you an honest, yet supporting opinion as well...you will probably fall in love with every dress you try on, but when it's the right one, you'll know :)

I had my dress picked out in November 2010 but didn't order until April 2011. Im still very happy with my decision. If you know the one you want then go for it. If not you have some time to mull it over.

I don't think it is to early. I ordered my dress and it should be in within 5 months. My wedding is July of 2013. It just gives you more time to shop around.

you know your shopping habits. if you think its going to take a while, then start now. Also, im sure you have been looking at pics. if there is a designer you really like, find out what their lead time is. I ordered my Lazaro 15 months before my wedding and they said that was a good time since his stuff can take a really long time to come in. it came in at the end of Dec for my March wedding

I think its a good idea to start looking in all the magazines and online and gather up styles you like. I would say hold off on purchasing until later this year, as they'll be new styles coming out.
I found dresses I'd torn out of a magazine and then 6 months later I was asking myself why I liked it.

I got my dress about 10 - 11 months before and I dont regret it at all. Some dresses also take a long time to come in, so its good to start looking now! HTH!

It never too early I got mone over a yr before my date. you can go and just shop see what styles you like best. from my exp the styles i thought i wanted to wear ended up being what i didnt like on me as much and i choose something totally diff. once you have it on totally diff than the models or pictures. and when you find the right one youll know it whether its now or a yr from now

I picked out and ordered my dress April 2011. Once I did that I completely stopped looking. When I do look at pictures of my dress I love it just as much if not more than the day I picked it. It's never too early to start looking but once you buy one you MUST stop looking immediately!!

It depends on the type of person you are. Girls who second guess themselves alot do sometimes change their minds. I bought my dress a year ago and just stopped looking at dresses after that and I am still happy with my choice.

Thanks for all the advice. I'm very fickle so I think that I should wait...

IMO I think now is a great time to start the dress shopping process. It might take a while to find 'the one' and then it might take some time for alterations. You don't want to be stressed near your wedding day bc your seamstress is backed up with other alterations or went on vacation or what not.

i don't know if anyone did this but I was planning on buying a used dress online. It's about 50% cheaper but of course the styles are very limited.

I started looking in early and found my dream dress. I went on the advice that some dresses can take several months. I placed the order end of December and I'm getting it in April/May. Love my dress!! It's never too early!!

I think its good to look early. I have eight months to plan my wedding and it did put a lot of pressure to find the dress and order it because some designers take6 to 9 months to get depending on who it is. I would say look at magazines and try on but don't buy until maybe the one year mark just to see the new different styles.

I love my dress but i wish i would have kept it in the back of my mind and tried others on. I ordered way to early and like most brides am wondering if i ordered to soon. To not compliate it, get your timeline in order, pick you favs, re-try and sleep on it. Words of advice...rush nothing if you have time.
