As u can see my wedding is 2 years away. I have ALL the money to buy a dress+alterations. They said it could take 4-9 months to get a dress in depending on the designer and season. How early is too early?

I'm going to say yes it is too early because in the time it takes for your dress to come in you will see other dresses and may like one better. Give the money to someone who can hold it safely and wait a little bit.

I was told that i really shouldnt buy it until 2011'....I was also thinking if i buy it now -where the heck will i store it???? Plus i def dont want my nosey Husband to take a look at it, dang i thought i would of been able to cross that off the list!..lol

Yes I think it is too early, as someone who reselected twice (yes TWICE) and will be losing a dress deposit, i highly recommend to wait a year before to start shopping. You are going to see so many new choices if you buy two years out and you don't want to have dress doubts.

Definitely wait until about a year before. You could go look now, get an idea of what you like, but don't buy anything until a year before. You hear stories alllllll the time about girls who buy their dress and then have doubts or see something else they like so much better. You don't want any regrets so be patient with the purchase.

I am in the same boat, waiting two years, and it is definitely good to look, but hold off on buying just in case something magnificent comes your way! Good luck!

I agree, two years is a long time and you don't want to have any regrets.

I know I am in the minority but..I say it's up to you. I am someone that doesn't change my mind once it's set & so I bought my dress in February of this year for my, Yes, June '11 wedding. I went all over the place & found that I was so picky. Once I found this one I had no doubts & still don't. It has been 10 months & it still didn't come in yet. I'm sure it wasn't on the 'necessity' list but my order was placed early so that if they were to discontinue I would still be able to receive it. I see other dresses all the time & I never even have a thought of wanting any other because I am just obsessed with mine. That being said you know yourself. If you have the slightest thought of 'what if there's something better' or 'what if I see something else'..etc. then wait, but if not I say go for it!

Definitely wait, between now and 2011 so many new styles and dresses will be out. Its best to wait until April 2011.

I'm with the rest of the girls here and say to wait ...
you might lose weight in the next year so buying a dress and getting it altered now could be a waste of money ... but if you want to start looking, you can do that anytime i just wouldn't buy anything yet

I dont think it is ever to early but I think you should wait becuase the styles may change from now until 2012...I bought mine 1yr before my wedding and got measured and ordered it 8 months before.

I was engaged in March 08 and ordered my dress September 08. It came in January of 09 and I had to take it back and reorder two weeks ago because it didn't fit. I think you can browse but you should wait a little and make sure you order a size up instead of your regular street size.

yeah i would wait... my wedding is 7-10-11 and im planning on shopping abt a year out....
you may fall in love with another dress with this much time...
id put the money away and forget about it for now....

I'd wait until at least next winter to look and next spring to buy at the earliest. If your wedding isn't until 2012, you have PLENTY of time (summer 2011 would be when you would have to start to really get your butt in gear). Every season they come out with new styles and you may find something you love better the longer you wait.
However, if you stumble upon THE DRESS before then- like the heavens have opened and angels are singing - then I'd go for it and get it when you see it. I got mine about a year in advance, off the rack at David's Bridal, because I absolutely loved it. But then I kept seeing dresses I thought I liked better. In the end, my dress was the perfect dress for me but it was KILLING me to not have my options open.

You can start looking around and If u fall in love with a dress then I say go for it, which is what happen do me I bought my dress over a year ago and I still Love it! Just be 100% sure you love it!
