I WANT to get this out of the way and have menus made up so Id like to do this asap. Is it too early? I also want to go pay more $$ and get the direction cards for my invites.

Not at all. I have my first menu meeting tonight, and my wedding isn't for another 4 1/2 months. We go back for a tasting in a few weeks after we narrow it down.

My friend is getitng married mid-june & went for her last week. I don't think it is too early...no harm in asking your hall--they may or may not want to do it b/c they have brides that are getting married sooner that need to get in there first.

CHateau La Mer wouldn't let us do our menu in March when we wanted to.....you could ask and see but that is what they said to us. We are doing ours in mid May (which I guess is soon so you should be fine). You can get the direction cards whenever though.

Thanks girls. Jean it can be a long ride, so I was hoping to kill 2 birds with one stone kinda thing :) I'm just really starting to stress and would love to be able to cross some things out.

Watermill would only do it two months before. I'm all for getting things out of the way as well but the closer you do it to the wedding the more efficient the meeting will be because you can go over 'other issues' you don't think about until later with the BM.
It saves everyone time and a lot of phone calls.
I've only paid one visit to my hall to time my walk (we are having prerecorded music) and to judge the area for my handicapped guests.
My wedding is July 4th and my menu selection is May 12.

My hall adds things to the menu every few months so my BM told us to wait because things may be different.

They called me back and I have an appointment next week. Everything they have right now is AWESOME! If they add anything I wont even need it. :)

Not at all!! I did mine in November for my February wedding!!! I wanted to get it over with before the holidays and be able to order my menus!!!
