My wedding is 702 days away and I've already ordered my dress, put booked Venue, booked caterer, booked DJ, booked String Quartet, still looking for florist, comtemplating hiring event designer/planner... I'm trying to get as much done as possible as I go along. Do you think it's too early to order invitations? I want the silk box invitations that are kinda pricey, so I thought ordering and using a payment plan would be ideal. What are your thoughts?

WOW you have so much done..... that is amazing!! Are you sure the place you want to order from might not have a sale one day and instead of paying down invitations maybe you can put the money in the bank and grow interest while you search around for the best deal possible. I know what invitations i am doing also......

Re: Is it too early to order invitations?
I have already sourced the silk boxes from a manufacturer in Thailand, so instead of $50 per box from a invitation person, they'll be $8.00 per box. As far as the invite inside, I found a great girl on Ebay that will replicate the actual invite that I love.. it has 3 layers, ribbon and a rhinestone embellishment for like $3.00 each or so, which WAAAAAAAY cheaper than the invitation person. So I don't think I can get it any cheaper, especially since I cut out the middle man.

Also since the wedding isn't until 2009, we've set up money market accounts (highest yield we could find) to save money especially for the wedding. So once we have everyone booked with the small deposits, we can rest easy and let our savings grow-- most of the vendors won't need another payment until 6 months before the wedding, which is great, so it won't be such a strain.

IMO, I'd wait, just because you never know what can happen and tastes can change over time. But if you love them and know you will a year from now, then go for it

Re: Is it too early to order invitations?
I found them from a direct source so now I can send them to all 150 guests. I'm so happy about that.. I felt like such a cheapskate when initially I thought I'd just buy them for friends and family.
