My wedding is in October of next and FH and I thinking it is time to book our photographer and DJ/entertainment.
I think that many couples probably want to get their photographers at least a year before the wedding, because the good ones go quickly, but can anyone recommend when it's best to take care of the DJand entertainment? If I waited until 6 months before, am I potentially asking for trouble?

Re: Is it too soon?
I did almost everything a year plus in advance... alot of people told me it was really early but honestly its better to do it early and have options then wait and have everyone booked. that would drive me crazy. esp. if you are getting married in a popular month.
Just make sure you are 100% about the vendors you choose or you will have over a year of second guessing it and driving you mad!

I DEFINITELY don't think you should wait until 6 months before to book your entertainment. IMO, I booked the most important vendors quickly...those being my hall, DJ and photographer/videographer. Six months before is cutting in close. You may be interested in a particular vendor that may be booked already. JMO!

Re: Is it too soon?
I booked most of my vendors over a year and half in advance. I have a holiday weekend, so vendors were pretty understanding. You'll get better prices by booking now, because they go up in September. It's great that you know about LIW so you can do some research. I didn't know about LIW until way after I was done.

Re: Is it too soon?
Being that October is becoming a very popular month for weddings, I would say BOOK NOW! The good ones do get taken up quickly and it takes time to find the right one as well.

Re: Is it too soon?
We've already booked our DJ and photograher... I don't think it's too soon.. you want to get it when it's still opened and don't want to be disappointed if your date is booked later on for a vendor you really like

Never too soon to book your vendors! You will get a better price the earlier you book (prices only go up) and you will have the pick of the litter. We booked our photographer in Jan. 03 for our September 04 wedding. Good luck.

Re: Is it too soon?
i wanted to get the venue and entertainment done first and then attack photography. i figured it would take more time to coordinate band gigs than appointments with photographers. i also personally think that it's harder to get good entertainment than it is to get a good photographer...
we booked the venue a year in advance and the other vendors in the following months. i actually booked the church first and looked at options within a 30 minute radius. i then booked hall and hotels, followed by band and photographer...

I don't think i would wait till six onths left for any of my venders!!! If you do you will risk losing out on some venders you might want Yes you can book now

I'd say at least a year for the photographer and Dj - IMO the 2 most important things-

Re: Is it too soon?
i think you should def. try to book your entertainment and photographer very soon to get who you want, but i think that you still have enough time to get who you want as long as you do it soon! best of luck!

Re: Is it too soon?
I feel that if vendors are booking dates that far in advance, its not to soon at all. We lost our church 19 months in advance. That was a wake up call that others are doing their wedding planning for the same date so other things were likely going to start booking up as well. Go for it. If you find a company that you love, its one less headache that you have to deal with later on. Good luck!
