Ok ladies... My fiance and I are planning on the three year engagement and well, you know the excitment of getting engaged and thinking about things... Well, when i try even bringing up the idea of a wedding everyone is like, 'well your not getting married until 2010!' Especially one person in particular.. his mother! not trying to bash on her she is a very nice woman and all it just certain things that she says or has to say just gets under my skin a little bit! I made it clear that e would love to have a beach wedding, I actually have my heart set on it and she says well you have to consider your guests and the weather and your hair... well, here is my point it is a little aggrivating and i just want to hear what anyone else has to say maybe to help me out a little bit. Please Help!

it is never too soon! There are some reception halls that are already booked for 2010!!! I started looking at vendors 2 years ago! I have been engaged since 2004 and getting married next year. Its always good to at least start looking at places to get an idea. More popular places will book up fast. Even if you go with a friend instead of FH. You should look at some places early! ( i did all that stuff with my MOH it was so much easier) then i just brought FH to the places i really liked so he could see them!

Thanks i appreciate the input... It is just so umm annoying to hear what i have been hearing lately. It is just really kinda upsetting when my FM-I-L makes the snobby comments she makes hear and there...

oh i hear ya!!!!!! i get that too. just go look even if its on your own just so u feel better and get an idea!
dont worry bout it! let her say what she wants and then justr let it roll off your shoulders. she probably forgets how expensive a wedding can be so she probably doesnt even think that it would bother you. but yes definatly go check alot of these places fill up very fast and yeah there is nothing wrong with going on your own. or im sure a friend would go with you. it is gonna go by very fast!

Remember it's your wedding and i guess she's bringing thiings up that may go wrong. But use that to plan your wedding even better. If you're going to have a beach wedding then make sure you tell your guests to be prepared for that. If the weather will be a problem then think of a back up. As for your hair put it up in a nice neat bun just in case it will be too windy. But don't let your FMIL dictate what you should have. As for it being too soon. Everyone tells me that i'm smart for booking way in advance because i'll be gettting '07 prices and prices for everything do go up every year.

The only good thing about starting so early, is locking in the 07 price. Beside that it's way too early for planning, because the place can always go bankcrupt or management can change. Or you may just change your mind. these are things you should think about.

Get a contract... get everything written. I asked a lot of places how long they've been in business. But nothing's forever. Ask about the policies if they do shut down their business.

It's really not too soon. There are sooo many details that go into wedding planning...I didn't realize how much until I got engaged in February. We aren't getting married till 2009, but we've already started planning because of all the stuff.

I agree there is a lot involved--I started 'planning from before we got engaged!!!!! But is it too soon to book a hall? I am worried I will find a place and love it and they won't have my date!!!

I got engaged in June 2006, and booked my hall for March 2009 in November 2006. That was the last Saturday in March 2009 for my hall. The rest of the month was booked as was most of April 09. My banquet manager told me in November when I booked for 2009 that girls were booking into 2010 so I say it is never too soon!

Your engaged, Congratulations!!!! I dont think its too early at all, but i can tell you first hand when i bring up my wedding people flip out that its so far away, i always get nasty comments People are morons, do your research, lock in your date and price Goodluck dealing with family members comments, its really hard, cause its almost like they dont take you seriosuly. i dont think they realize how much money wedding costs, you have so much time to save up that is really great!

See that is mainly where my concern is and i already started hearing it from family... so i am trying my hardest to try to get my life in order and i actually started a little note book for myself and i am constantly purchasing any of the bridal mags i could find... i really am looking foward to our wedding and i know we will have our bumps in the road when it comes to planning but i am trying to set it so when it does happen it isn't too big of a deal... does that make sense?
