Is it too soon to send STD cards?

How early should you send them. We will have a number of family coming in from out of town.
Also how soon should we be blocking rooms at hotels - We will probably block rooms at Garden City hotel, Wingate Inn, and Red Roof Inn (the three closest hotels/motels in the area) or possibly the marriott (uniondale)

I'd say about 8 months before.
