That for small diamonds they are not typically GI certified?
We picked out a 1ct band (.20 ct each stone), but when we asked about the certification, they told us typically for small stones they don't do that.
Is that true????

Re: Is it true????
My side stones are .35 each and they aren't certified just my center stone and our jewler was a friend of the family so I am sure he would have given them to us if he could. It was in my letter though that I got which was certified it mentioned the side stones.

Re: Is it true????
I'm confused, someone just posted the stats of a diamond wedding band. I didn't think they were certified either....does it matter on size? I am so confused.

Yes, it's true. GIA typically certifies stones over 1ct or more. There are excpetions, of course, but using Tiffany as an example, only stones weighing 1ct or more are GIA certified. Stones over .18ct or more are individually registered (meaning Tiffany lasers a number ont hem and logs them) and stones below that are just checked ofr clarity and color. Hope I helped...you have nothing to worry about!

you'll have to double check at gia.org, but I believe they only certify 1/2 carat diamonds and above.

Yes, it's true.
They should still give you the color though.
Make sure not to get anything too yellow if your e-stone is really high color. Even G-H will show againts a D e-ring.
Also, as long as it's not bellow SI, the inclusions aren't visible to the naked eye. It won't effect the sparkle (other factors determine that), so you can save some $ on that and NO ONE will be able to tell w/out a 5X loop.

Re: Is it true????
IMO, You should definitely try and match the quality of your e-ring as closely as possible.
I'm having my wedding band custom made by the same person who sold my FH my e-ring. He's well aware of the quality of my solitaire and is creating a diamond wedding band with the same quality stones.
I'm definitely not someone who would have something custom made, but we're talking about something I will wear for the rest of my life. I felt it was well worth it.

Re: Is it true????
i think there is a division of the GIA that certifies smaller stones (under 1 ct.) as well...

Mine either, center stone yes, my side stones are .5 carats, so how small is too small to certify?
