Is it weird that I am....

involved in the planning of my bridal shower? I booked the place and I plan on getting the decorations and all I am the first of my friends to get married so I'm not really aware of how its supposed to go.. in any case, it's too late, I booked the place already and told my MOH she is off the hook.


Is that weird?

traditionally it is supposed to be a surprise. Some brides on here want to be part of the planning so they also did the same. Some of us do want it to be a surprise though so we've stayed out of it. Just go with what you prefer, well you did already haha.

ugh I love surprises. I wish I knew this BEFORE booking oh the joys of being the first of your friends to get married............ I need a more experienced bridal party!

oh wait you wanted it a surprise but thought you had to plan it? sorry ...do you have any idea if your mom was planning to do it and maybe didn't say anything to you because its supposed to be a surprise

i of course dont think its weird cuz i helped book the place (not paying for it though), made the invites, picked out the games, and bought the decor for my shower. i have control issues. i know its supposed to be a suprise but i dont like them and i actually enjoy being involved in every aspect of it.

nah, my mom was nagging me to book a place for it she is really on my back to get things done which is good because I procrastinate so much that I am a leader of tomorrow! Anyway, yea I wish it was a surprise but it probably wouldn't work well anyway. My MOH is so busy with school work and overwhelmed with her own life, that I think the bachelorette party is enough pressure for her (that will be a surprise!!!) ........ and my mom and I have different tastes so that woudn't work. I guess in the end my taking part in the planning is pretty good.

I dont think its weird. It would have been nice if someone stepped up to help you out though. If it werent for my FH's cousin, no one would have thrown me one. And I practically set up my whole bachelorette party. Its hard for brides when were the first ones getting married out of everyone. No one really know what they should do to help.

Yeah these things happen and if you're fine with it then its no problem...you'll have an amazing shower

i picked the place but only because it has sentimental value - but everything else is a surprise, although i will know the day of... but as for the details, my sis and mom are not letting me have my say about anything! that is kinda hard for me, the super control freak....

i probably would have liked a little more involvement, but i'm so busy finalizing wedding stuff that i'm sort of relieved that it's one less thing i have to think about - just have to find something nice to wear!

I don't think its weird. My sis/MOH is doing it as a surprise and being a control freak I usually would want to be all in the mix of planning but my sister is more methodical about things than I so I have no worries. If there are particular things that I would like to happen I'll suggest it.

Its a tough position when you're the first, I am too but i'm trying to have faith. I always call my wedding the 'practice run' to my friends since we have no experience in this stuff

yea i know! i'm the 1st out of my BP to have a wedding..(my MOH is married but didnt have her wedding yet)

I dont think its weird, especially being that your the first of the friends to get married. I am in the same situation, an di am starting to panic. I have 4 months left and i dont think anyone is planning anything. its kind of annoying to me.
