Do you think it's worth it to get my FI's wedding band (plat) at Tiffany's for $250 more than the one at Fortunoff's?

Re: Is it worth it for Tiffanys wedding band?
Most people will tell you no but we got Tiffany bands partly because a)they were a match for my e ring but also b)there is something different about the feel of the Tiffany bands - particularily the mens bands - from all the other. I even compared against other high end jewelery stores and it really didn't compare.
Another bonus: You can have your ring cleaned for free for the rest of your life. (Im pretty sure this applies for the bands as it does for the ering)

I have a platinum Elsa Peretti band from Tiffany, which I wear on my right hand (I wear a diamond band on my left), and while it is beautiful, I don't think that has anything to do with the fact that it is from Tiffany. Get bands you love, regardless of where you find them. If the Tiffany band is IT, then get it because your fh loves it.
For the record, neither my e ring or diamond band came from Tiffany, and I get them cleaned for free all the time, so don't let that be your deciding factor.

My ering is from Fortunoff and can be cleaned there for the rest of my life too!

We originally looked at Tiffany's bands. It just didn't make sense to us to spend so much more just for the name. There are bands out there of equal quality (or just slightly less) that are much less money (many hundreds).
I feel that with the exception of some of their original diamond cuts 'lucida, etc.' it doesn't pay to get a ring from them. If you see something you love, you can always have it made.
I do understand however the idea of wanting a 'tiffany's ring', but in the grand scheme of things, i feel its not worth the money.
Just my opinion.

i dont think its worth the extra money either unless there are diamonds in the band and they are of higher quality. just my opinion but you should go with whatever your heart says

If that is what you want and you can afford it go ahead and get it. I don't think it makes a difference, you and your FI will probably be the only people who will know. That is just my opinion on the name brand in any area of buying anything of equal quality. My friend has a Tiffany band and he never takes it to get cleaned b/c his wife cleans it for him, so if its lifetime cleaning that is the determining factor you can definitely get a more affordable ring elsewhere
Happy planning

Funny this was brought up-My FH is being a big pain in the you know where about finding a ring. He looked at some i in Fortunoff and then looked at the the lucida Tiffany band. The Tiffany band is $200 CHEAPER than the one at Fortunoff and he said it felt much more comfortable. If he loves it-than you should go for it.

$250 dollars really isn't that much. If you like them better than go for it!

If he (and you) like it better and you have the money - get it.

Whatever makes you happy -- do it. Personally - I thought I wanted Tiffany because of quality, selection, etc. but we went to Fortunoffs and found beautiful stuff -- my e-ring & both our wedding bands are from there.
Like Tiffany, Fortunoffs only carries doamonds that are of superior quality (I can't remeber the technical terms -- something like S-1 or better.. whatever..) and you know you're getting what you pay for. After we bought our rings we got appraisals back that showed the rings were worth more than we paid (my w-ring is an eternity style & my FI's has channel set stones). Also, as someone else mentioned, they'll service their jewery plus our rings can be cleaned there for free for life - and I can get to Fortunoffs easier than Tiffany's.
For me the difference between a dark blue box & a light blue box was unimportant -- but if it has meaning for you -- $200 over the course of a lifetime spent wearing a ring is pretty small. Do what makes you happy.

Just wanted to add one more detail that probably isn't that important:
When your ring is an antique many, many years from now - it will have more value as a Tiffany than from most others (exluding Cartier and other like brands).
Of course your not going to sell it but its nice to know. And its one way to think about how the money is not 'wasted'.
