To invite my work friends without a date? Most of them are single but a few are married. I am close with them as a group and am not friendly with their spouses. Is it terribly wrong to not invite them with a guest?

I don't necessarily think its terrible if you can't fit the extra people in your budget. But they may feel a bit uncomfortable without having someone with them if they don't know too many people. We invited everyone from my job with a guest. We didn't want to let some bring a guest and others not. JMO

No but I would sit all your co-workers together so that they know someone and then are not uncomfortable

agreed. Some of the people we work with, they are married and we know them and met them. The ones that are single/not living with someone/ don't know them personally aren't being invited and sitting together.
If that makes sense...

I don't think it's a huge deal to omit the guests for your single work friends, but I really don't think it's appropriate to invite married friends (or those in long-term committed relationships) without their spouses. It doesn't matter whether you are personally close to the spouses or not. JMHO....

I think that if someone is married, you need to invite them with their spouse. As for the single people, there is nothing wrong with inviting them sans guest.

Re: Is it wrong?
All of our co workers that are married or seriously dating someone are being invited with their significant others. However, for the co-workers that are not dating anyone, they are not being invited with guests and we will seat them all together.

Everyone that I am inviting from work is bringing a significant other. I am too close with them to tell them not to bring a date, after all you do spend more time with these people than your own family, JMO

Re: Is it wrong?
It was already established in my department that coworkers go without significant others. We like it better b/c we all sit together and dish about work stuff and have a great time! Husbands pick us up!

I am having a smaller wedding. We decided that we are only inviting people to bring guests if they are in a committed relationship.

I think it is rude to invite a married person without a spouse. However, I have no intention of inviting any of my single friend, even my closest friends, with a date- unless they are seeing someone. We are paying for this wedding and we can't afford to invite everyone wiht a guest- unless they are seriously seeing someone. I will just have a singles table.
