To ask my girls to all get their hair done. I always plan to get it done when I am in a wedding.
I don't care how they do it (up or down). I would like it professionally done though.
Make-up is up to them. I will have an artist at my house if they want it but I am not asking them to do it.

Do you think they would just assume they have to have it professionally done?

Re: Is it wrong
if i was asked to be in a wedding, i wouldn't assume i had to get my hair & makeup done professionally. Honestly, i don't think i'd be MAD if i was asked, but i wouldn't necessarily be happy about having to spend the extra money (and time) when i know i can do my hair perfectly well on my own.
i don't think it's wrong to ask though - it's expected that the BMs do what you ask

If that's a big thing for you, then yea you should say something. One of my girls already told me that she's probably just going to blow hers out by herself, which I'm fine with. But if you want them all to have it professionally done, you should say something.

I don't know... If I were in a bridal party I would definitely get my hair professionally done, BUT some girls might be annoyed that they are being forced to spend the extra money. I'm not telling my girls they have to because I'm not paying for it, and I don't want to add an extra expense onto their already expensive day.

thats how i feel also.....i am leaving it up to them since I am not paying for it. However, they all seem to want it done professionally anyway so it worked out.

I don't think its fair to ask unless you are prepared to pay for it.

ITA. Though when I've been in weddings, I've gotten my hair done professionally and paid out of pocket. But it wasn't required of me.

Re: Is it wrong
It depends on their fincially situation, I know one of my BM will be doing her own hair becasue of money. I have four who will be going to the salon, and I am not sure about the last girl.

I think if you're going to require it, you should def be prepared for some people to object.
I was very surprised - I had set up for the girl to do my bm's hair for $75, which is what I always pay for when I'm in weddings, and out of 11 bmaids, only 5 wanted their hair done!
The majority didn't want to do either hair or makeup!
I think nowadays, people are being SO frugal with spending money...
Is there any way you could be like 'I'd love for you girls to get your hair done' and if anyone says no bc of money, you can help pay for it (in secret)?

Yea, I would do that depending on how many girls would object. I mean 3 years ago I was in a wedding with a number of the same girls in mine and it was just a given. We KNEW we had to get our hair done. So we did... no questions asked.... I also have someone coming to the house who will do it for $40/girl. I would LOVE to pay for them all to get it done but I have 10 girls and can't afford that.
I should add. We found a VERY affordable dress. I am not asking them to get any specific shoe (any black shoe will do). I am not asking them to get their MU done although I will have an artist at the house if they would like too. I bought all their DOJ...
So I don't think one small request to get their hair done is that b itchy of me.

I don't think it's wrong at all. You want to ensure that every one looks put together, especially for your pictures that will last a life time.
Go for it!

For $40, I think they'd be silly to object, but I still wouldn't force their hand. I'd just politely let them know that the stylist is available and it's relatively cheap.

OMG who are you getting for $40!??!? Please FM me!!!!!!!!!!!!
Seriously, I would be mad if they objected if it was only $40. Especially since you have an inexpensive dress and aren't requiring them to get shoes!
