Is it wrong for me to request no bridal shower games

Is it wrong for me to request no bridal shower games

My mother is driving me nuts. I really don't like all the games ( no offense, please don't hate me), and my mom wants to do this embarassing 'how much does she have in the honeymoon jar' game and whoever wins gets a tea pot or something. I'm really not one for them. At all. But is it wrong of me to have an opinion if I'm not the one throwing it...

I feel bad actually b/c my mom was super excited about and i'm like 'yeaaaaa NOO!!'

Maybe I'll let her do her little game...

No way. If anybody had asked me, I would've requested no games. We never usually have them at bridal showers.

I've actually never been to a shower with games. It's just not traditional in my family, so I think I should be fine.

That being said, I told my Mom and BMs that the only kind of games I want to be played are drinking games. Guess the gift right, take a drink. Everytime I get towels or something for the bathroom, finish your drink lol. I think that let them know how I felt!

I'm not a huge fan of games either...but honestly...it keeps the guests engaged. I would allow it if it makes her happy

I requested no games, but they still did a few, and they were ones that weren't obnoxious.

While I was changing there was a 'what's in your purse' scavenger hunt, and each item was worth a point value. The person with the most amount of points got a prize, and the person with the least amount of points got one.

They did bridal bingo while I was opening presents.

Then they did a 'how well does laura know michael' quiz. They asked FH questions the night before and had him answer them. Then I had to answer how I thought he'd answer. The guests had to guess how many questions I'd get right. The one who was the closest one.

A lot of people don't want games... I was very specific about what I wouldn't like as opposed to what I would like.

I am not 100% all for the games but I think it keeps people entertained. I just said , you can embaress ME as much as you'd like but do not embaress my guests. I want them to feel like guests and not have to do anything they really dont want too.

They also gave a proze for the most unique item in someone's purse. I WON!!! Don't ask me why I had sea sickness pills in my bag but I did

I guess it doesn't hurt to request it, but I do think one or two minor ones should be played to keep them entertained!

Re: Is it wrong for me to request no bridal shower games

I've been to bridal showers where there were no games... I was sooo bored. There's nothing really fun about sitting at a table with great aunt suzie and watching the bride open hundreds of gifts (fun for the bride, not so much for the guests). I think games add much entertainment and levity to the affair. So I say, for your guest's benefit, you should consider allowing at least a couple of games for entertainment.
